The annual Rules Meeting of the Metropolitan Council of Sports Car Clubs will held on Saturday, December 12th, from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM. The meeting will be held at the home of the current Rules Chair, Steve Garnjobst. Members from all Met Council clubs are welcome to attend.
The purpose of this meeting is to discuss and agree on what changes (if any) will be proposed for the 2010 Met Council Autocross Series Rules. Proposed changes will then be provided to all Met Council Clubs for review. Club representatives will vote on any proposed changes at the February Met Council meeting.
If you wish to propose any changes, please submit them to me by December 9th, so I can distribute an agenda to member clubs. I already have the following discussion items on my agenda for the meeting, based on previous discussions with members:
1. Add STR and SMF to the list of supported SCCA Supplemental classes.
2. Renew BP as a supported SCCA Supplemental class. Note: this class will be eliminated after 2010.
3. Split existing Street Tire Index (T) class into three classes by driveline type (RWD, FWD, AWD). The classes would be designated as R, F and A.
OR
Split existing Street Tire Index (T) class into two classes by driveline type (RWD, FWD/AWD). The classes would be designated as R and F.
4. Institute noise limits for Met Council events. The rule would set a base limit and allow clubs to set more stringent levels, based on individual site requirements. Add exception that allows vehicles to exceed SCCA exhaust system length limitations in order to meet sound restrictions. Options for base limit: 100dB OR 103dB
5. Split SI into two or three classes by drive type (RWD, FWD, AWD) OR (RWD, FWD/AWD).
6. A number of potential changes to the SI class, aimed at encouraging more drivers to migrate from SI to "regular" classes.a. Re-name SI to Novice (N).
b. Change rules to award trophies to the top 10% of SI drivers, and ban trophy winners from running SI at future events.
c. Change the rules to require that SI results not be published.
d. Change the rules to set a time or event count limit on SI participation. Note: I have no idea how we would track this - especially between clubs.
