    I've been using this mount for years...works great!

    Here a short clip from an Auto-x hillclimb run. Its a bit shaky dude to my heavy HD camera. Max speed was about 80mph.
    EVO+MR+Hillclimb+run!+(rear+view)

    I've never used a tether and had this thing hold great at speeds over 140mph at the track (with a smaller camera).

    well i made a cheap one with an old tripod and a $4 suction cup from ax-man...
    this is an 80mph test run

    got the new mount, its about teh same height but has a MUCH wider footprint, you still think i need a teather? the one on the right i had on my trunk lid doing 80 without much vibration, i think the one on the left is overkill

    well i went to test the new mount today, and the thing doesnt hold a vacuum, i cleaned the surface, and the suction cup, and i noticed a little bit of a gap, not much but still a little gap in the cup

    Yes, you absolutely MUST use a tether. If that thing flies off and hits a course worker, it could do some damage.
