Just a Thought

We currently have 6 different first choice topics and each of there allow multiple sub-postings as well.

The old message boards format "dropped off" the older messages and was easier for more people to use...

There are 4 pages in the General Discussion area now, and it will only continue to grow...
And of course the others will too :( :(

I'm suggesting that all messages be dropped after a period of 3 to 4 weeks, and only one "master" first choice with all other topics as subsets of that. That would make it easier to navigate. If you can't check in often enough to use the "active topics" feature then you have to wade thru a lot to see if you've missed anything(like I just did after being away from a computer for 5 days).

This is just my opinion, but as this is the best means we have for communicating with each other my vote is to streamline it and make it more user friendly.

Any other MAC members have any thoughts or ideas on this???

ok the way this board works is the latest post goes to the top of the screen. Even though there is 4 pages of 'stuff' you only get like the first 20 topics (or messages) This will keep growing but there really is no reason to go beyond page 1 or maybe 2. The software was not designed to 'drop off' because there is the search ability to go through all the posts. I think this will help in the long run if/when there are questions asked over and over again. Just do a search.

I know too techie

Jon
I thought a "search" was what I just did after 5 days :p :p
I'm guessing the "search" FX won't be used by most users, I still think one forum would be better that all the open topics we currently have, just my dos centavos.

BTW Jon---will we see the Boxter at the next event???
Or is the Miata more fun :D :D

Well since I bought the wife a 2001 Miata I think I am safe from having to buy the boxster. It was a nice car, but not 40K nice LOL

You would have my vote if you got rid of:

Meeting Recap
TechnicalHOWTO
Feedback

Those are used so little.

The problem isn't organization, it's that the board doesn't fit the way many people want to use it. The previous board was being used as sort of a back-fence chat facility. One click got you all the current threads which could be easily seen and read as desired.

This board is meant for a lot of discussions on a lot of various topics. If you want to see an example of this type of usage, go to the www.miataforum.com]Miata (http:\[url) Forum[/url]. The way this board is being used means a lot of clicking (and waiting) to get each piece of information.

I'm not suggesting a change -- just pointing out why the answer may not be a different organization.
