Explain to me again why your car needs more power.

 Um... well... ahhhh. All the other SM2 National cars have it....

Hee hee. No seriously, I don't need any more peak power. But the extremely peaky powerband of the F20C (just augmented with a centrifugal supercharger) means I still only make 80 wheel horsepower at 4000 rpms. :flame:

So round two of "power mods" is focused on getting more power in the mid-range... to maybe 120 wheel horsepower. I could always go the Wynveen route and downshift more to keep the rpms up instead....

But cleaning up the mid-section will limit our need to launch at 9000 rpms every time and maybe preserve our (future) clutch life. Getting more hp at the top end is a bonus, but not the focus of the next round....

Before subjecting it to 9000 rpm clutch drops, I thought I would get some "normal" shifts on it first. I've heard ~700 shifts to break one it properly, but that's probably overkill.

Plus, the special pressure plate won't be in until next week....

I would recommend someone arriving early in Milwaukee do the buying of food, and anyone eating should toss in some cash to make sure it's all paid for.

Whoever is buying brats and dogs (and burgers?), I'd suggest bringing extra. This is a hungry bunch and considering the sh!t we're stirring up over in the Milwaukee forums, we may want to plan for a few extra people at our afternoon shindig.

I would recommend someone arriving early in Milwaukee do the buying of food, and anyone eating should toss in some cash to make sure it's all paid for.

Jeeze. Next thing you know, these guys will be teaching the Cheeseheads and Chicagolanders to play fizzball.

Ok, I booked a room at the Double Tree $98/night
18155 Bluemound Road
Brookfield, Wisconsin

Chuck and I have a bed, but we should have floor space.

Christopher

I'll take that!

Do we need to pre register online for these events?

washburn
08-13-2008, 06:06 AM
You don't have to, but it saves you money. Go to

http://scca-milwaukee.org/Solo/pre_reg.html

They have their own online system...no MAE. Saves you 10 bucks per event I think.

NOTE: Cutoff for Saturday is TONIGHT. So get pre-registered tonight for both. If you don't want to, walk up registration is all about guaranteed...I've never seen anyone turned away.

I am bringing my wife- so +1 for me :D .

I'll try to make sure I bring enough brats and dogs. Who is going to bring the grill? and condiments? and Chips?

We'll bring some snacks. I will also try to get a portable grill. Someone else should bring one or two more too. Definately bring extra stuff...we threw this together at the last minute for the tour and ran short. My wifes a vegitarian, so we'll bring veggie burgers for her. It's our 22nd wedding anniversary, so I guess this will be our anniversary dinner!

As an after thought, Dawn will be hanging around the site all day. Probably bored out of her mind. I think she would be willing to do a grocery store run for us all. I'll have the wagon there, and she likes shopping. Sean, it's great your wife is coming along too...maybe they can hook up on this.

So, if we want to wait until we all get there to get the food, I think that will be OK. That way no one has to haul all the food in coolers.

Even if all the rooms are "full" I'm sure someone will have extra floor space for one more person. Problem is, we won't know until we get checked in. I'd say about 50% of all the rooms I have stayed in could easily accommodate a second floor-sleeper.

That's what I was thinking as well. I'm ok with a fourth if there is room.

What are Steve, Harry, and Tim doing? If they are at the Golfcourse, maybe they have floor space?

They arn't... I was thinking about staying with them but the room they have is small... Besides, my personal travel agent Steve G., booked a room for me...

I have not stayed at LaQuinta yet so I am unsure how big it is.

But if you can sleep on the floor with 2-3 ft, you are welcome to the space.

We'll be rollin' in around 11:30 pm

Sounds good to me. I'm pretty sure my wife will be up for getting away from the autocross for a little while.

I should be pulling in abouts the same time, assuming my wife can get all her things packed quickly enough in the morning.

So I might be there a bit later than 6:00...

Dawn and I will be around 8:00 pm to 8:30. Wnate dto get in a beer walk if the course is set up. With most people in the La Quinta hotel area of Bluemound, maybe pick something close to there? We all got cells...let's use them!

Oh....did NOT get grills. I hope someone else is bringing portable grills...otherwise burgers will be a little cold.

Tracy Ramsey of Team Blender Blaster is cooking out too...maybe we can hook up.

I reserved a room at the Country Inn and Suites on Moorland for $53 per night (yes, I said fifty-three dollars). I went through hotwire, so I don't know what kind of room it is, but if anyone is interested in moving up from the floor to a bed or sofa-bed, I might have space.

Damn. I just tried it and it says no longer available! You got the last room! Lowest rates on their website says 174 per night...you made out! Crap, that would save a bunch for me since I'm not sharing either. (I am, but Dawn won't pay for her half!)

Hotwire thing is a little sketchy because it does not tell you anything until after you book with no refund or cancellation, but man....sure is cheap!

Yeah, it's kind of a leap of faith, but the payoff is great. Pick the number of stars and the location carefully, and you should be pretty safe, though. You can also look at the amenities listed to get an idea of what you're getting if you know the options in the area.

A 3-star hotel in Brookfield with a pool and golf nearby was a pretty good indicator that it was the Country Inn or something close to it.

Yeah, once I got a very nice room at the Sheraton (3 stars also) for about $50 per night using Priceline. Hotwire had a very similar deal. I usually use these services when I'm making last-minute reservations and I'm traveling alone...
