Hello! Just a heads up that I am planning on attending the year end party. Not only do I want to see my old and new freinds from the Twin Cities, but I am on a mission as well. I need volunteers for the upcoming autocross at Valleyfair. This *will* be the biggest, baddest event of the year! I will be recruiting people to head up areas that include:
Advertising/Marketing
Chief of Workers
Chief of Grid
Chief of Registration
Safety Steward
Chief of Timing and Scoring
I will define these jobs in more deatil later...perhaps at the party if you want me to bore you! Hopefully I will see you at the party....run away from me if you don't want to volunteer! (Just joking, but don't be offended if I bring it up in our conversation.) Thanks all!!!

Pat,
I'll take Registration.
I'm planning on measuring up the VF lot next week for you.
We should get this event on myautoevents asap.
Lets playoff the Mazda Speed event that is schedualed for the following weekend.

Pat,
I'll get the event listed on MyAutoEvents for Darryl once we get the date finalized with Valleyfair. (signed contract in hand) I already have a MAC Registrar account set up for 2004. I also recommend we use this event to start offering online pre-payment. I'll bring this issue up for discussion at the next Board meeting.
I'll let someone else be the Chief of Advertising/Marketing, but will volunteer to write up a flyer and distribute it to Met Council members and other area SCCA clubs.
Keep my name in reserve, if you have trouble filling any of the Chief slots.

p.s. I'll be looking for someone to share cars with at this event. Gotta get in plenty of early-season seat time!:D

I will be at the party and I am willing to be chief of timing and scoring. And since I am also the webmaster I am willing to help on a electronic level on the marketing and ads.
I was also thinking we should get a hook in with the local papers and TV possibly, anybody have any contacts for that?

Hi Pat, good to hear you planning to make the trip for the meeting. It's gonna be a haul for you, from Wausau... if you need a place to crash for a night, let me know. I've been wanting to talk with you about plans for the 914 for the next couple of seasons, so lets be sure to head off to a quiet corner of "the barn" for a while. As far as the VF afair, count me in to help out somehow... I don't know if I am qualified as "chief of anything" but would consider grid or workers if you need additional chiefs. As we don't use a grid system at our midway or other events, keep in mind you'd be dealing with a totally raw rookie, but I'd give it a go if needed. I'm waiting not so patiently for the meeting to see everyone again, and get more details on the upcoming season, schedules, rules, etc...
it warms my heart to see so many peopel willing to 'jump in' and help.
We really do need to do a 'dry run' and this one though.
I will continue to make sure equipment is on hand. I will need the trailer back to my place early in April.
Tower's of trailers?

Pat,
Most of the positions you have listed are in fact held by many of our new Members at Large. If they continue with there positions you should have most positions covered. Or maybe the Board members are looking for a break for a day :p
I will of course help in anyway I can.

Thanks Jeremy, and thanks to everyone who replied! I did not want to burden the Board members as I see this as a "Special Event". There are some things that will go into this one, and some things that will be done that are not necessarily what we normally do. Anyone is of course welcome to volunteer!
So far, I have:
Darryl - Chief of Registration
Steve - Will help out with Marketing
Jon Kotek - Chief of T and S
Dwight - Equipment Manager
Fitz - Safety Stewart
Dave Parsons - Open ( I may have you do grid or workers. Both positions involve things we do not do right now anyway.)
A great start!!! I will no doubt think of things later too, like a novice liason. I'm sure we won't have any trouble filling all our spots. I look forward to this being the highlight of the year, and to giving people who have been autocrossing locally a chance to see a bigger event run more like National stuff. I guarantee that the course will rock!
My plan is to generally lay out the event at the party, and then make a trip or two to the Cities to meet with everyone and flesh out all of the details. Thanks again guys!! See you soon.
BTW, I spoke with the site owner, and I will have a contract in my hands at the party. someone an take it off my hands there.

If nobody else is available, I'll do it again.
