Its that season again, time to go fast in Eau Claire, then slow down in Rice Lake. Nancy and I will again be hosting a post event BBQ/Bench racing session on our deck overlooking the senic Blue Hills. Party to move indoors in case of rain. We will supply food and drink, if you want to bring something to share, thats fine, but remember it needs to survive a day in the sun (hopefully) at the event site before being shared. Per usual, there will be raffle tickets for $5.00 each to off set the costs, and valuable prizes to be won. We haven't broken even yet and don't ever expect to. Its all about the fun factor.

Auction?

Up for bids is the drive of a lifetime. PM me your real name, screen name, and bid amout. What are you bidding on? The use of Pauls Miata for the event. The lucky winner will receive lodging and grub the night before (saturday 7th) at our place. We have cats, so if you're alergic, be ready. We can toss a few back, watch some car movies or whatever. Then Sunday AM, we rise with the sun, and you jump in your red Miata for a day, and we wagon train to EC for the event. Following the event, back to Rice Lake for the BBQ, and swap Pauls car for yours, and off you go, back home.

And, yup, you guessed it, all proceeds go to the Paul fund.

I will be updating this thread with bid amounts, but the winner's identity will be kept a secret until bidding ends, which is 5pm wisconsin time, friday the 6th. If I get any bids. AND, winner still needs to register and pay their own entry fees to the event.

Finally, a bidding hint: EC will allow 2 drivers per car. Pool your funds with a friend to be sure your're the high bidder(s)?

...and, even if you're not bidding, please RSVP to this thread so we can have a clue how many to plan for at the BBQ. For those of you who haven't been here and want to mapquest it out, address is: 335 Hilltop Drive, Rice Lake, WI.

thanks-

Auction has ended! Due to underwelming response, and a friend of mine from rice lake who wants to do the event but doesn't think he'll have his car ready, the auction ride in the Paul-mobile is closed.

Keep adding yourself to the rsvp list for the BBQ to follow...

thanks-

Why can't anyone ever auction off something I really need, like a date with a female or something.

Who wants what? Menu includes cheeze burgers, brats, and venison dogs. Some good cold Wisconsin beer will be availible, self regulate, please, so far as age and consumption, along with the usual grill on the deck sorts of foods and munchables. Ice cream treats to top it all off, and per usual, a $5 donation gets you a ticket in the drawing for fun prizes. You can buy as many tickets as you wish to better your odds.

Add yourself to the rsvp list on this thread so we can try to sort of have enough of everything.

I will be there +1 guest.

Is there any gas stations in the Eau Claire/Rice Lake area that serve gas higher than 91 octane?

Cheeze (sic) burgers, sugarless ice cream and a large quantity of water.

Really, if you don't have sugarless ice cream I won't give you a bad review in "Better Homes and Cookouts".

All the above, please. I am more partial to brats than the others, with mustard, onions and/or kraut, too. :)

Sadly, the ice cream is the real stuff. (not sugarless)

One last bump for the Cheddarcross. We have a big basement with a large screen TV- rain or shine the show will go on. Sunny on the deck, rain- we'll cook out and eat in. If it looks drippy out, bring any home burnt discs of auto x action and we can play them in the basement if needed for additional entertainment value.

Dave,

Tomorrow is my oldest daughter's birthday, so it looks like I'll miss the post-event festivities this year.

No problem.

Not bringing my wife. She is staying home to work on some of our projects. I'm bringing Eric, who has already signed up. We have the ex-Yakich shocks and a fresh Jeff Forss alignment on the Miata, which pretty-well mandates that we won't get a dry run to test them.

BTW, when they tell you that you need to separate the ball joints to change the front shocks, don't believe them. :)

The rain wasn't a problem. We could party indoors. The problem was the threat of hail. After the recent problems some of our members have had with hail-damaged cars, we just wanted to drive out of it. Apologies to Dave and Nancy for our rapid and unceromonious departure.
