Looking for volunteer corner workers to help run this event:

Are you comfortable with fast cars in close proximity?
Do you like to wave flags, blow whistles, and talk on the radio?
Can you quickly reset orange cones?
Can I count on you to arrive by 8am and stay until 5pm?
This event cannot happen without the generous help of all-day corner workers. All helpers receive complimentary refreshments, and those who work all day get a free lunch from the Girl Scouts! Ask anyone who has worked at this event before. They will tell you that I take very good care of my corner workers. You guys are golden! Please post, PM, email, or call me if you are interested.

One corner worker position I need to fill is that of Radar Gun Operator. You get to stand a couple hundred feet down from the finish line and shoot my battery-powered Bushnell radar gun at cars as they cross the finish. Fastest speed last year was 136mph. C'mon. I'm sure there's someone out there who would like to be on the OTHER side of the radar gun for once!
Oh, and did I mention you get free lunch from the Girl Scouts?! And probably a chance to drive the course for free in the late afternoon, if a few drivers leave early and you find a sub for your corner?!
One other point, although advance registration for modern (1980 or newer) cars is sold out, I will almost certainly have driver spots available for modern cars on day-of-show after I give the vintage guys one last chance. We are a vintage car club with vintage car insurance, so the event needs to maintain a vintage "flavor" to keep the insurance guys happy. 1979 or older cars get preference.

Registration for drivers of modern (1980 or younger) cars won't be open again until the morning of the event, and then only to people who show up at the airport and get on a waiting list.
But remember, I treat my corner workers very well!

Okay, I've got a radar gun operator, but still need a few helpers. C'mon...I'll give you a walkie-talkie and a whistle!

Bump for a couple more volunteers. We have some great people but just need a few more.

One more bump to get one or two more volunteers for this high speed airport event. C'mon...we're taking over an airport for a day. We get to drive cars down the 1/2 mile taxiway as fast as we want. Is this a great country or what? :)
Corner workers really have the best of all worlds at Amery. Free refreshments, free Girl Scout lunch, and the chance to drive your car on the course for free in the afternoon (after the crowd thins out and as long as the corner worker stations are covered).
Also, I'm sure we'll have more openings for modern cars on the morning of the event. Get to the airport by 8am and you should get in under the wire.
By the way, have I shown you this video from one of last year's Amery events? No, I didn't think so:
