A mini? You've already had one of those!
I don't think I am going to Valley Fair this year as the wife works both days (7am -4...kids need someone at home) so I won't be in the mix.
2 words...GOOD INDEX
actually I sold my last one 2 buy 2 cars....my Miata and my truck
and I really liked that car
The 05 Mini has a bit more rear suspension adjustment

I changed my mind...I'm coming and am registered in DS proindex for Saturday. It'll be a battle!!!
Good choice for Pax..I think HS took a light hit. Getting shocks for that thing? What tires? Take a look at Hankook C71 compound as I am hearing good things about them and they are cheap.

Don't forget, the Met Council rules have been changed on how you display your class.
PRO Class:
The "P" comes first.
PASP or pASP or P ASP.
STEET TIRE INDEX or "T" Class:
The "T" comes first.
TASP or tASP or T ASP

We decided to run STU this year. Heard someone got an HS Mini....figured there's no point. :)
Seem to remember Chris D. and a couple other "top 10ers" posting in the initial thread... that they wouldn't want to run Pro if it were just another "best of 6 runs class". I'm willing to give it a try in the current configuration, and see where it goes.
--Ivan
p.s. Oh, and by "give it a try", I mean kick Rdub's butt! :p:evil:
(wasn't it about time the smack-talk started?)
Thats The Only Way I'd Run It Is If We Get All Our Runs
NO PAT OR CHRIS ,WHY...YOU GUYS WERE WORRIED YOU'D BE ....STUP....BUT THATS CHANGED
smack???? butt???
I wouldn't want to take less than the full amount of runs either. But splitting the 6 runs into 2 sets of best-of-3 was the preferred solution by some. It was a compromise. I was just surmising why more people haven't signed up.
edit: cripes you edit your posts a lot... Yes, "smack" and "butt" probably shouldn't have been in the same thought... or should they? ;)

Heh. My entry was changed to Pro. I don't know what Chris is going to do. I don't even remember what we decided...first three runs count? All 6? Whatever...doesn't matter. Don't want to be a sissy! :)

I hope to compare 3-run times with people on a separate spreadsheet of some sort, but compete in DS.
I like the idea of pushing ourselves to win in 3, (I certainly had lots of 6th-run wins last year) but if that's not the point I feel the pro class is kind of pointless.
why pointless.......we are racing each other against the index....in a seperate class,3 runs ,6 runs ,what ever, you don't have to run in it then. Part of the original PRO class idea, was to open regular classes to new autoxers who may not have the time or money to win against a season "pro",but who are close, and it becomes a bit of a stepping stone then.(don't want folks to get discouraged)
Once they get the experience then they may want to join Pro.
Pro was never really about the people in it and what they wanted ,it was a friendly gesture to other autox'ers,so maybe they'd feel they had a chance to get a trophy now and then.
Looks like calling people out worked :D

For the record, I only changed because Pat did and it's important to get the co-drive routine done. ;) Otherwise Pro would only appeal to me if it were a 3 run format, but since that didn't get in there's no use crying about it until next years rules meeting.

Pro could be a fun change from just regular STX... then again.... i may get WHOMPED on and leave pro after my first 2 events... atleast STX has a decent pax :)

Ditto all that, plus the fact that we already have 2 drivers running BS in the car. We could always compete on PAX ranking without PRO, so I'd rather see the class include some sort of special challenge like the "dual 3-run event" scoring.

For M2, Andreas and I were going to run his Evo in PRO until he informed me that he is running Yoko A-032Rs. Given that the list of PRO entrants reads like the "who's who" of Minnesota AutoX, I convinced him that it would likely take superhuman effort just to finish midpack.
If it gets unusually cold at M2 (High below 50), we may have to reconsider.

You *were* the underdog until you cherry picked the softest index and went out and bought a car for it. [I need flamethrower guy here] Good thing SS isn't the softest index, that would have set you back! :)
There are some decidedly manly cars in Pro this year, I guess a Mini wouldn't look *too* out of place in the Pro grid. PHS....looks like something that gets tagged onto your name when you finish 12 years of college. "Randy Williams PHS" Kinda has a ring to it. I'm going to pronounce it: "fffffffff".

I'd be careful on that. STS2 has a bogus PAX partly based on a tire that was promised but not delivered. I'd say STS2 in a Miata is not the place to be in you want to pick on the PRO's. At least I'm not going to smack talk on it.

To be determined. I'll know by tomorrow.
Don't forget that we'll probably need to adjust things for cars with > 2 drivers. For example, if PRO runs with B-Stock, we'll have 4 drivers in the same car in the same heat.
I don't really care if we run in a different heat than the rest of PRO, or maybe it'd be easiest to move BS if PRO runs with the rest of Stock...
Neal
this is where PRO will get hard to manage
if 2 drivers sharing the car are not both in pro
no one gets there tires warmed.
And like Neil said.....if all 4 BSPro and BSopen are in the same heat,
tire warming or cooling may be a big problem.

For the 4 of us, there's no way we'd try to all run in the same heat. If it happened to be scheduled that way, 2 of us would change heats (or class if necessary).

Here are the Grid/Heat assignments for MOWOG 1 & 2. The mix of cars has changed quite a bit from last year, and it was pretty difficult to come up with balanced heats.
East Grid (running 1st on Saturday & 2nd on Sunday)
STU, Street Tire Index, Street Prepared, Prepared, SM2, F125, Pro
West Grid (running 2nd on Saturday & 1st on Sunday)
Stock, SI, STS, STS2, STX, SM

With temps in the high 40's, the tires will warm somewhat with two drivers as long as it is dry. Somewhat warm 710s stick much better than cold 710's from my experience. Plus I want to kick Chuck's $%&?!! just like the good old days!
