Getting a head start on 2008. Last season, I booked suites for 6 dates at the golf course Marriott in Brookfield. (10 minutes from Miller Park) These very nice suites can handle 4 individuals (with one on an inflatable), or 6 or 7 people total with couples. Makes for a pretty good rate with 4, and a great deal with 6 or 7. I think it was around $180 a night last year.

Advatantages are that it's *very* quiet and secluded...no parties all night in the room upstairs. They have full kitchens, are pretty high end, and are comfy. Breakfast is pretty good too. There may be better deals out there for two roomates, but it's close.

I know it's early, but please indicate your interest in doing this again for 2008. Include dates you know you're going if you are able....especially for the Tour. Note also that rooms are *very* hard to find anywhere on certain weekends in Milwaukee...it's good to get these things booked now.

PS - Please offer up any other ideas if you have them. I'm not so stuck on this place that we couldn't consider other arrangements. Especially with the 5 members of Team One Out. (Neal, Katie, Ivan, Wretchen, and Parker. Parker is not welcome at the Marriott unfortunately. Something about being a dog. <shrug>)

Pat,

Frankly, it seemed like a LOT of work registering for all the weekends in advance & tracking who's there each weekend. I'm probably going to book something 30-45 days in advance for each weekend I'm there. It's never been a problem finding roommates.

One thing I've discovered with Milwaukee hotel rooms is that prices fluctuate a lot. Some weekends, you can get deals considerably better than the Residence Inn rates, without haing to stuff as many people in a room. One other thing about the Residence Inn - while I like the rooms, quiet setting, and breakfast - parking is problematic for those of us with trailers. I usually ended up having to park in no parking zones.

p.s. Too bad about Marriott - the Courtyard had some really excellent rates last summer.

I would consider going in with someone since i have not been to the event in milwaukee before and i have already registered for the national Tour that is being held there in July. So any help someone could provide me as a place to stay where there is ample parking since i too will be trailering my car there

If you want a nice hotel you usually go in with a few people. If your not picky like me, Paul and I stayed at the Howard Johnson near the airport. A little longer drive but you can't beat $60/night for a 2 queen bed room with slanted ceiling and a pool view.

The place Pat might rent again is a top notch stay. Good food in the morning, large room and nice location.

I'll probably be in for the Tour again Pat.

I'd recommend watching these forums regularly, during the season. There are always threads created well in advance of major events, coordinating caravans, hotel rooms, dinner, consumption of malt beverages, etc. There will usually be a large contingent of MAC members registered for multi-day events in Milwaukee, Kansas City or Topeka.

So, what's Team One Out's plans this year? Have you guys thought about it yet?

We talked about travel arrangements, but nothing concrete as far as lodging goes. I think Neal and Katie found a cheaper, pet friendly place last season.

One option that Gretch and I did last year was staying in the RV park at the Milwaukee State fair site. ~$30/night didn't seem too bad for people who didn't mind car-camping. Shower facilities, pets allowed, wireless internet, 5 mins from Miller park.

OK, here's the deal. I'm in.

I notice there seem to be fewer 2-event weekends in Milwaukee this year. That said, I am currently planning the following (pending spousal approval):

(depends on weather)
Apr 13 Chicago SCCA #1 Route 66

(depends on spouse)
Apr 20 Milwaukee SCCA - #1 Miller Park

May 18 Milwaukee SCCA - #2 Miller Park

June 7 WAI #3 Miller Park
June 8 Milwaukee SCCA - #3 Miller Park

Arrive extremely LATE on the 18th (late check-in)
July 19 National Tour. Day 1 Miller Park
July 20 National Tour. Day 2 Miller Park

(maybe)
August 2 WAI / GASS, Day 1 Miller Park
August 3 WAI / GASS, Day 2 Miller Park

August 16 Milwaukee SCCA - #5 Miller Park
August 17 Milwaukee SCCA - #6 Miller Park

Rare that we don't get 6, but occasionally it's 5.

Not necessarily. The Tri-State schedule hasn't been finalized for '08 yet. Those events will likely create one or two more full weekends.
