I spoke with Valleyfair, and sent them a letter of request this morning. They will return a contract, which I will forward to the club, for signing and returning with an Ins Certificate.
We are scheduled for May 9th, 2004. As mentioned, I would like to volunteer to EM this event. I will let the board and membership make all the needed decisions about the cost per entrant and all that stuff. They are open to allowing one date in the spring, and one in the Fall, provided we can afford the cost. (And they want us back of course)
That's the news! I am really looking forward to staging an extremly high quality event with a massive, Nationals style course. This will not be one to miss!!!! While I am in town this Sunday, I will already be on the lookout for Chiefs of everything, so if you want to volunteer and help in the running of this event, please come and see me. Thanks!!!

Pat,
Next year we will have members design courses but the club will run the event, no more EM. EM :flame: Club
That's the process we used for MOWOG 5.5 / Allright parking lot event. Over the winter an event procedure book will be created making events very consistant.
Let's promote this event and see if we can draw a couple hundred cars.
Can we set up the course the night before?

As Drew can attest, this is similar to Milwaukee. They have a season solo Chair, but not and individual event EM. They do have Cheif's of stuff though, and people are responsible for certain things at each event. I like the idea guys...I think your on the right track!! :)
I will get into logistics of the event *much* later. We have lots of stuff we can do first. Least of whch is me visiting the site. I may cruise down Saturday afternoon for this purpose. Anyone want to meet me there?

Pat,
Did you realize May 9th is MOTHER'S DAY????? We should really go for May 2nd instead, or we could run into some attendance problems. May 2 is also the date that was suggested/blessed by the Met Council at the last meeting.

p.s. Can we also tentatively book a Fall date with them as well, just to get the place reserved and get it on the local event calendar? The last weekend in September or one of the first two weekends in October would be perfect.

I thought the amusement park was open by then. I thought we could not get the site when the amusement park was open.

Valleyfair opens May 15th next year. Due to the Mothers Day oversight (political jargon for "screw up") I will request May 2. This shouldn't be a problem since he gave me my pick of open dates.
Anyway, I will clear this all up and forward paperwork to the board as soon as I get it. Thanks for everyone's support...everyone will be needed to pull off a great event.

Thanks for the clarification, and for all your work on this site!
