M7 is fast approaching, and as Steve did with M6, I'd like to start a thread on who will be able to help out with what. As I'm in MI for school this week, lets keep the notes to this thread coming, and either PM me with questions, or try to catch up with Nate, aka silveracer. As much help as can be given will be accepted, in all areas of the event.

On a side note, this weekend, while in MI, I did the tour de tracks, visiting Gingerman and Grattan. Gingerman was flat, and reminded me of a large kart track. Some C.R. bike guys had it rented for a test and tune, drivers ed sort of event. Fun, but a little ho hum. Gratten, on the other hand, rocks. The central paddock is up on a hill, so you have nearly 360 degree view in all directions. A long front straight, lots of corners, camber changes, elevation changes on the back side. Reminded me of the worlds best high speed auto-x. A BMW club was there for D.E., and I scabbed a ride with one of their instructors, for about a 1/2 hr. We were on track with the "B" group, and with this guy's skills, 300+ hp, paddle shifters, we lapped the field at least 2x. What a rush... School pretty much sucks, but as long as I can pass it, come home and do M7, and remember sunday afternoon at Grattan, it will be a good 2 weeks...

I'm in and out, but available. My email is abeln@uwstout.edu should anyone need to get ahold of me. Any information and/or people that would like to help out in any compacity could notify me or Dave. I would also like to ask about the timing and scoring and if all the kinks are worked out or what's up with that? Also Dave get a hold of me or anyone else who is interested in the grilling idea. For all of those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, we thought it would be cool to do some grilling on our last mowag of the season. Also I would like to know if anyone would like to see a rough of the course. If so I need to know how to get it up on the site. Ive got it as a jpg now. Also Steve(MNBIKER) if you have your handy dandy list of duties from the last great event you put on, could you poss. email me a copy.
Thanks guyz and gals, I'm looking forward to a kickass last event.

Nate,

Do you have the course layout in CAD? If so, send me a copy. If not, please send me the JPEG.

I can be there at 7 AM, to help get the course set up and make sure you have everything you need.

I'd encourage you to post a volunteer signup sheet for the major jobs, like I did for MOWOG VI. It was very reassuring to know the jobs were covered, prior to Sunday. Looks like you already have a fair number of volunteers.

I HIGHLY recommend you make sure Josh and/or Jeremy are there early to help Jon get Timing & Scoring set up. That was by far our biggest problem area at MOWOG VI.
(By the way, a HUGE thanks to Nikki, Jon & everyone else who chipped in to get things working!)

I'll send you the Work/Run Sheet Template and a script for the Driver's Meeting

Josh reminded me that for the USB serial port to work you need to reboot the computer. The rest was gravy once I set it up. There WILL be a display clock for this event even if it kills me :p

Dave,

Add my name to the list!

I hope to show for this one. Depends on the weather really. I suggest early team effort on the course design. Dave, I'm sorry I have not been able to comment to you directly on the proposed design, but there are a couple safety issues you will need to address. You need to address the loop being earlier in the run as well as the proximity of a car in the loop to a car going up the slalom, possibl passing each other closely. Steve can easily give you a hand. If I'm there, I will lend a hand as much as I can. Thanks!

I hope to be updating the met council numbers list tonight. I have several requests on my desk.

Last night I vegged and watched "Horatio's Drive" on TPT channel 2. I recommend it. It will be replayed on 2 and 17 (probably 17 tonight). One forehead-smacker is that when the con-rod bolts for one cylinder went, they replaced them and did not do the ones for the other cylinder. Yup. Shortly thereafter, the other ones let loose.

I'm headed out of town for vacation this morning, so I won't be able to attend MOWOG VII. Nate, I never received the course drawing with the route, so I couln't review it before leaving. I'm sure you guys will be fine - just try to allow plenty of time for event-day course fine-tuning.

I dropped off the pre-registrations to Paul yesterday, and will be sendign a Driver's Meeting script to Nate shortly.

Have a great event!
