Folks -

I have a friend in the printing industry (all types). I'd like to design and print a bunch of static cling car window stickers as a memorial piece. I'm sure magnet versions could be made as well if people are interested. It would be a simple black and white piece... 77 in block with "In Memory", the date and Paul's name.

I'll be getting a quote on the cost, but in the meantime, feel free to email me off list if you'd be interested in one, and if magnets would also be desired. The final design will be passed by Curt before printing.

Regards,

Aaron

Please keep us updated on this. I would be more than happy to sport one. Like I said, I only new him since this past May, but always spent plenty of time chatting it up with him when I saw him. I am glad someone posted that pic of his drive in theatre. I was there that day for quite a while after the alignment clinic, but had to leave before the evening festivities and that pic. I have drank LaRossa ever since he had me trying it that afternoon..

I would like a permanent sticker, not mag, not static cling, much like the ones we did for Steve H. when he passed away. "In memory of Paul Weidner, 77DP" and make them in BRG (British Racing Green), its the only appropriate colour, maybe 3" to 4" square, not enough to be guady, but a classy reminder of Paul. Who ever can make these, I'd say just do it. With Steve H. there was a charge of a buck or 2, and any $$$ beyond cost went to a charity, like club general funds or some such thing. I do not have the skills or connections, but this should be done.

I am known to keep my car clean and free of stickers, but I would be proud to put one of these on my car. A window sticker preferably so it would be inside and out of the elements so it would last. I would buy at least two, so when I end up buying a separate car for autoxing I would have one to put on that car as well. Regardless of what type you have made, just let me know and I will buy a couple.

I'll look into pricing all of these routes.

Thanks for the tips.

I designed this up, if anyone might be interested... I will be redoing them reversed, so they would go on the inside of the window.
And I can do a different color, but I thought it would be tribute to his car....

This is a nice effort, but I'm afraid a lot of people's efforts may be getting duplicated. As I posted a couple of times earlier, I have a design off to the printers. I guess there is no reason why there can't or shouldn't be multiple stickers out there, but as the proof is sent to me I'll make sure a picture is sent to all. I have a pre-order of 80 3" diameter stickers that I will be picking up tomorrow afternoon.

Best regards,

Aaron

Folks -

Here is the sticker I'm having printed (I hope the photo attached correctly). Pardon the blurry photo. Changes will be Paul's first name centered more in the splash as well as the DP being twice as big.

Again - 80 are being printed. I am also getting a copy of the cd artwork that I'm going to give to Curt at MAHC, and if there is someone at MAC I can give a copy to I'd be happy to do so.

Again - feel free to contact me off list. elanplus2@earthlink.net

I'll have stickers at the Memorial.

I think we should move the discussion of the stickers outside of his memorial thread, it would seem more appropriate to discuss there so we don't have a bunch of people replying in regards to them here. That being said, I would very much like to have two of these, one for each car.

I agree with the above.

The point of affixing a sticker on one's car is to show support, remembrance, and convey honor and respect to the memory of Paul. I, too will be honored to have one of each to display and I offer a hearty thank you to the both of you for your designs and efforts in his honor.

Hello All -

The Green on White stickers I posted about are now in my hand. I have @ 72 available as some folks have already sent me emails as directed. I'm happy to mail them out to out of towners - or those not able to make it tomorrow night.

That being said, these are first come, first served. I will keep a list of the email requests so as not to over distribute tomorrow night. I have given a CD copy of the art work to Curt Carlson for the MAHC to do with as they please, and I will have another copy for someone of MAC tomorrow night. Any thoughts of who most appropriate to give it to?

My email again is elanplus2@earthlink.net

This is kinda what I had in mind, but I'm no artist. I like the cone thing, as one of Pauls favorite avitars was of the "cone pooper" when the sprite was popping 2 out the back. If you make more, I'd take several.

You can give me MAC's copy of the CD tomorrow. Or just send the file(s) to xprepared@msn.com.

Yeah, I figured I would include the cone, since thats how I met Paul and grew to enjoy being around him at the events.

I can probably make a few of these for people if they want. I prob won't see anyone tho until the first event next year tho.

Good Morning all -

What a wonderful ceremony.

All 80 of the stickers I had made up are gone. My apologies to Ivan, but I believe that everyone else who R.S.V.P.ed before the Memorial either got theirs at the Memorial, or had theirs mailed to them. Steve from MAC and Curt from MAHC have the graphics for printing up more in the future, and I would suggest people contact them for a possible time line on getting more.

Thanks to all of those for the kind feedback on the stickers.

Take care all.

I'm interested in getting a couple of these. I wouldn't mind having it on the outside as my car has tint and it would be hard to see the sticker through the window.

If worse comes to worse I'm just going to get a sheet of 77s cut and anyone that wants them can have them.

Hey Folks -

Steve from MAC and Curt from MAHC have the artwork discs for running more stickers. It should be no problem for them to have exterior versions run, as well as magnets should people/the clubs want them. I've sent Steve a private message alerting him to the ongoing interest.

Thanks again,

Aaron

Talk to Matt and Nikki, the MAC ones turned out pretty nice.

I think the green would look good on a brown shirt. Maybe too hot on a summer autox sunday though.

MattD
12-22-2007, 09:44 AM
Nikki and I have already talked about making a run of shirts -- BRG-esque shirt color, w/ a black and white design (similar to that above) on the front, and a small 77 on the back near the collar.

I'd cover my costs and then everything above that would go to the Memorial fund.

I just can't do this before the banquet.

If there's enough interest (more than 20?) I'd take orders for sizes -- use your rad MAC shirts as reference to how big you'd want it.

I'll post my design when I finish it. ;)

If I'm stepping on anyone's feet that really wants to run with the t-shirt idea, let me know and I'll stop working on my design. :)

I say think you Matt for stepping up to do this. Put me down for a large. Charge what ya gotta.

My personal thought is I would like to see a light tan colored short, with forest grren graphics. I think that would be a nice color combination, and would be light enough for summer.

My thoughts:

We would wear these while at an event, I'm sure.

During events, we can get dirt or grease on clothing - so go with a darker color (BRG-like) with an inverted logo (white in place of green?) to avoid ruining a shirt.

See attached design idea on shirt - different colors obviously!

Admin: If this is off-topic, feel free to make another thread just for t-shirts.

Tyro, that shirt is very neat. I'm out of stickerspace on my car, but would be very interested in one of those shirts (in that grey!) Large for me, any idea on cost? Perhaps a small margin could be put on them, with the proceeds going to the foundation setup in Paul's name?

I thought of Paul right away, but i was thinking i know a bunch of people who knew Paul have got new cars(including myself). I was thinking about showing my Paul Weidner pride and was wondering if anyone had any extra stickers or something. I would like one of the window decals in the picture if anyone has one extra. If anyone has an extra feel free to send a PM or maybe we could print some more if others want some too.
