I've met a few of you guys in the past, but most of you probably don't know me. Want to invite any/all to an upcoming event up at BIR. This is a road course event and from reading some other posts here I see that a number of you guys have already been up to BIR for some time on the road course.

This is a non-competitive event and you will get LOTS of track time. Please note that safety is our #1 priority and a full safety crew will be on-hand as well as a staff of corner workers and instructors for beginners.

No experience is necessary and all car types are welcome as long as the car is in good working order. There is a Tech. Inspection sheet on the website that should be downloaded & filled out prior to the event.

Cost is $235 and includes lunch & refreshments throughout the day. You are sure to get as much time on the track as you want. We have had drivers get over 300 miles on at one of our track days.

This really is a great chance to meet some great people and see what it is like to get out on a real race track. Let me know if you have any questions. Feel free to shoot me an email or give me a call. Contact information is on the registration/info page below.

Convertibles need roll bars, or does it fall under all car types? :)

We have allowed convertibles without roll bars in the past but we strongly suggest that you have one. I will double check for you and report back here.

Rats! The car is in storage and I will be flying to Miami that day. :(

Never heard of anyone getting 300 miles in day, but 120 shouldn't be an issue. I went through 2 tanks of gas last Thursday on the track and got in 117 miles.

As for convertibles. Last week Corvette's limited converts to 90mph which limits you between 9-3. I wouldn't personally run a convertible hard without a roll bar. The person I instructed last week in a C6 convertible lucky was very aware of the risk.

Is this a rain-or-shine event?

We will allow convertibles to run. It would be great if you could join us. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Probably yes, but it depends on how much rain. Normally when there is rain up there it is only a short time & things clear up. But of course there can be times when it just won't stop. If that is the case and there is no chance of the track drying off, then we will issue rain checks for another event.

I've only been rained out one time over the past 8 years or so of going up there. Right now it is showing partly cloudy & 70 degrees.

Hope you can join us!

I fixed the speed limit thing. That was a policy for another event but we removed it. We just want everyone to be careful, especially with a rag top.

As for the price, we really do try to provide a good value. Keep in mind that it does include lunch & I've built the sales tax into that as well. The format that we use will allow LOTS of track time and is very safe. I know that there are some groups that do it for a little less but some of them don't even use corner workers. We could cut those kind of corners but it isn't worth the risk.

Hope you will reconsider, it would be fun to have you up there with us.

Slowswede:
Got your registration, looking forward to having you up there! Not sure that we have had a Saab at one of our events before. That's a big part of the fun is seeing all of the different cars.

No problem Todd,

I understand the reasoning entirely. My budget just doesn't agree after buying a new car ;) I'll be shooting for next year.

Should be fun. I forwarded it along to two other friends. One with an S2k and the other with a Saab Viggen.

Looking forward to it.

I wish I would have had more notice. I would have waited to put the car in storage and taken another day off work. :x

Last event I went to I think I was the only one without 400hp in my run group. I did have fun playing with the Vipers and C6 Z06's though. I did also go out with the wrong run group so I could run with the NSX that was there and found out they are faster on the straights then my MR2. I need to get a AFC, FPR, and Wideband to get it tuned to run with the bigger dogs.

Let me know if you need any help with the Wideband as I'm a dealer for Innovate.

I've only seen one of them registered. Please let me know if they both filled out the form because there may have been a problem. Only one PayPal as well.

Not really. That's just the going rate for BIR. I've gotten into Road America for $175, and done 2-day events at MAM for $280.

edit; sorry for the threadjack, o.p.

If anyone else is interested it would be great to get registrations in no later than tomorrow. We have to get lunches ordered & plan for instructors etc.

Thanks,
Todd

Sure, but RA is a six hour drive and would require a hotel. So it's all relative. To me paying $235 and driving two hours is cheaper.

But whatever.

Some of us are going to get a relatively early start on Sunday and enjoy the waterpark at the hotel. If anyone wants to join in you are more than welcome. We're going to take a little different route. We'll be meeting at noon on Sunday at my office (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=3234+Rice+Street+St.+Paul,+MN+55126&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=32.38984,59.765625&ie=UTF8&ll=45.04028,-93.106213&spn=0.00705,0.014591&z=16&iwloc=addr&om=1). Then we'll take 694 west to 35W, go north to highway 10, then take that west to 169 (at Elk River) north, then up to Zimmerman. Not certain where we will meet up in Zimmerman but I'll try to update this in case anyone would like to join us there.

On Sunday you can simply show up at noon or if you are running late but want to join us, give me a call on my cell: 612-839-9436 If you just want to watch for us along the way and join up, you can watch for a couple of Camaros on trailers, a Silver Firehawk Convertible, Silver Evo, Blue Camaro & probably some others.

It was really great to have you guys up there. One of my highlights was watching you guys run when the track was wet. You guys were awesome out there! :rockon

I'll be sure to put you guys on the email list and I'll try to remember to post here as well when there is another event. I'll probably put on at least a couple events next summer and possibly more (I'm having so much fun with it). If anyone else would like me to add you to my email list, shoot me a message with your name & email address.
