For some reason I experienced a massive brain-**** at the very moment the previous owner of my car was telling me that the noise it made in reverse was nothing to worry about. Hmmm, 6 months later I have no reverse gear.

Anyway, I need a reliable and complete transmission for my '91 VW GTi. I can arrange for it to be picked up. This is for my daily-driver car, so I kinda need it asap. Thanks.

Rex,

I've been saving this for when somebody like yourself is in need. Tell Brett, Bill Owen sent ya.

I have two wide ratio boxes in my
garage if you are interested. I would be willing to
part with either of them for the right price. I also
have a 9A in both of my cars that I would be willing
to swap a wide ratio into the car and sell you the 9A.

Let me know...

Thanks Bill, I dropped him an e-mail. I'll post the board when I find one. Until then, any other leads are appreciated as well.

Rex,

I'm sorry to hear that reverse went out on the old GTI. I checked car-parts.com, but didn't find anything for you. Hopefully Bill's lead works out.

I'd check the VW Vortex Forums under Midwest Region. They've got a sticky For sale and WTB thread going on... While there, Give a shout out to SCI Performance or S&L Auto Sales

If you haven't already, try the Volksport.com forums. non-members can post now

How about an entire 86 Jetta GLi parts car? There's one darkening my driveway right now and I'd be more than happy to see it go. It isn't mine but a sale can be arranged. (Unless Drew still wants it....)

FYI - I was interested in trying to make that car a driver and future autoxer. But at the present time, due to too many cars at home, and other pending projects that some members of my family seem to feel should take precedence over having another VW, I'm out of the market for that car.

It's got some potential, depending on what your needs are.

Bill,
It's a clone of your car...before you went to work on it. The only thing I know of that keeps it from being a driver is an out-of-time engine. Ask Drew or give me a call if you want more details.

There's a possibility I'd be interested in too. What's a good way to reach you to discuss it outside of the message board?

Got me a "new" tranny last night and hopefully it'll be in the car some time before the lakes freeze. Thanks to everyone who replied with a lead or offer to help. Great people in this here club. :-)
