Kinda a "Threefur" afternoon & evening:
This is happening after the classroom session of the second Novice School on June 16th.
ONE:
Corner Weighting Clinic, around 2:30
Jeff (The Alignment Guy) will demonstrate cornerweighing using Dave Hildebrandt's Porsche 914. This car has been cornerbalanced in the past but since it's Daves car there have been changes since then...
The car has easy adjustabiliy front & rear and Dave will be adjusting the corners & demonstrating his mechanical prowess in front of all!
Unlike alignment where we can demonstrate several methods and talk about toe, camber, caster, Ackerman, yadda, yadda, yadda for hours cornerweighting is more of a hands on process - at least at this clinic. If we feel there is time there may be another demonstration, whether the car will have three or four wheels is still up in the air...
And hopefully we will also have Larry Sanders and his red Miata at the clinic as Jeff aligned his car this spring with some special thought and tweaks for the best setup for a non LSD car.
Two:
BBQ
Toss some funds in for food (supplied), BYOB for soda, beer or ???. Sharing BYOB with presenters/hosts is appreciated:
"Please feed the bears"
;)
Not sure if it'll be dinner or available during the clinic, feedback encouraged. Your meat will be carefully prepared by Chef Shane and or Chef Pat, buns & chips supplied, any other sides welcome as long as no ptomaine present...
Three:
Cinema Nite
Similar to the impromptu gathering after the last alignment clinic, projector thanks to Ivan & Gretchen:
http://forum.mnautox.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6621&highlight=cinema
We plan on starting geeky - car geeky that is, schedule below:
1st Data logging videos
2nd In car AX videos
3rd Top Gear Episode (Thanks Josh)
Anyone is welcome to bring their datalogging and in car videos, please contact Shane or Ivan to be sure your format will be compatible with their equipment.
Interested?
Please post if your coming so we have enough meat!
(and buns and chips)
Only post if you're eating BBQ as there will be plenty of room for people during the clinic and cinema.
Bring chairs - for both BBQ and Cinema, standing room only for the clinic, limited in car seating available during Cinema.
:)
Location
Here are directions assuming that you can find the Hwy 100/394 intersection (we're all drivers here, right?)
Take Hwy 100 North of 394 to
36th Street East (right) to
Grimes Street North (left) to (If you see France/W Broadway/Hwy 81 Too Far!!!)
Hubbard (one short block of Grimes, it then "dumps" into Hubbard, continue north on Hubbard ~ 1 block to 37XX, fireplug in front of house.
Hope to see a lot of you here, remember, just like at the events, keep the neighbors happy and drive slow...
Paul
Don't forget to post if you're coming for the BBQ!

I will try to make it. I will let you know for sure next week if that is ok. And of course I will bring some beer and pitch in for food :D
I should be there. Maybe I'll introduce myself to the local adult beverage store and pick up some Blue Moons or something. I suppose I should buy some oranges too, so you can tell how many beers you've had.

We should be there. I'm starting to get a better handle on the data logging software, and I'm sure Ivan's been playing with it too, so we won't embarrass ourselves this time (at least not with our software skillz...but driving may be another story)
Make sure there's enough meat! :p

I guess I can't really speak for Ivan, but I'm pretty sure we will be there. And if we can't come for some odd reason, we will make sure you get the projector & screen for the car geekery that will ensue.
Can I reserve my spot in the Tricar? 8)
Edit: It's confirmed, we'll be there!

Bribery is always an honest form of getting the information that you seek.
Be happy to share with you the next time I see you.

Larry: "Bribery is always an honest form of getting the information that you seek."
Jeff: Do I need to start locking the file box that has everyone's alignment printouts in it?
My Cheese-ball website has been updated so at least the info is current. The "T.A.G. Customer Car" page now has a link to my MySpace page, which is where I'll be putting client car photos unil I come up with a better plan.

Thanks for letting Stuart and I crash the party.
Do you guys always play spin the bottle at these things or was it just because Gretchen was there? I liked the "Ring around the Rosey" part, but was it really necessary to slam Stuart's head into the cement floor until he was left with only enough braincells to challenge one of my Monkey Cupcakes in a battle of the wits? I guess it's okay, but he's still asking if he apexed too early and he won't quit going on about pockets and posies. At least he can't call the Andersen Renewal guy and cancel my order... Mwa ha ha.
Seriously, thanks. We appreciate your hospitality. I'm not good with hosting -- I only have 4 plates and today 6 four- and five-year olds nearly brought me to my knees with the Buzz Lightyear Birthday Party and all the subsequent Space Ranger Training. We had Flomosian Rings of Fire, The Moolrondian Triangle of Hope, the Smeeblian Trellis of Bravery, the Chockta Chant of Strength, the Cherolian Arc of Pure Heart, and finally after some encouragement, all of the cadets managed to pass the rigorous course with courage, agility, strength, balance and a strong desire to keep away the forces of darkness that threaten to destroy our precious world. The were each awarded their own rocket pack and set loose to uphold the cosmic laws. My word, where do they get all that turbo energy? It can't have anything to do with the Monkey Cupcakes I made, can it? :p
--Trish
p.s. I got a little tipsy tonight... and I'm not sure if this makes sense to anyone but me, but I'm laughing because the last paragraph is all true. :dancin: Cupcakes... Yeah, baby, Yeah. Very yeah.
p.p.s. That is a dancing monkey, right? Because if it's just in my head, I'm definitely in dire need of sleep... You always know it's time to go to bed when those ****ing dancing monkeys show up. Better toddle off and make sure that Stuart isn't huddled up in a corner yelling, "It's not 'Ashes, Ashes' you fools, it's 'a tissue, a tissue"! They fall down because they had colds, right, and they were going to die! The Black Plague is nothing to joke about! Americans. Sheesh. No sense of history. Something that is 40 years old is not an antique -- 400 years, maybe, but 40 is just something not new. Now, where did Rosey and the ring go? Ah, yes, to fight the fellow with the band of misfits. She did have rather large and hairy feet for a lass..."

Thanks for letting Stuart and I crash the party.
We didn't have much choice, would you turn down guests arriving with great pizza and even better libations?

It was spin the Tricar as I recall...
Now Stuart knows why there is an adage "Never pyss off a Figure Skater" (Gretchen), if he hadn't then my cement floor wouldn't have been chipped by his tooth. I'm pretty sure he could still apex correctly, at least he could when he left the party (he navigated my walking cone slalom "field sobriety test" with the correct line).

Glad you liked the hospitality - I'm used to it as I used to have a restaurant that catered as well so anything under 50 I could do in my sleep.
However, I draw the line at theme parties for the 4-6 year old set, they would have me screaming and running for the hills, you have my respect for being able to do that.

I don't think you need cupcakes to be..........you.;)
Unless it's whats in the cupcakes that makes you like that...

What dancing monkey? Too much Zima and Newcastle there Trish?
Let me know when you see some dancing elephants too.
My favorite quote from a Brit Expat used to be
"Americans think anything over 100 years old is old, British think 100 miles is a long distance"
but the 400/40 phrase may have just taken it's place.
Stooo - just remember that the ones going on about the 40 year old stuff are the boomers who basically were allowed to define each decade as this population bulge grew up (some say we never did...), discovered drugs, were threatened with war (the draft),got jobs, raised families and now get ready to retire. It's all about us you know - really, it is! :)

Whoa, triple post Paul...
Yeah, we're not surprised that he's not himself. He was doing tequila autobody shots off of Alan's Elise at the end. For a minute we all stood in stunned silence while he whispered, "My Precious" and started to wax it wearing only his orange and black tiger-striped loincloth, but we just felt awkward when he started using his tongue to do it. Most of us left before it got too autographic. Elise just wants to have a shower and forget the whole thing happened. She's sworn never to eat the worm again *shudder*, and plans on getting detailed before she goes autocrossing with Alan again.
NONE OF THAT WAS TRUE. Ala Sally Field, we love you, Paul. We really, really love you. :P

Thanks Paul for hosting, I had a good time. It was great to see everyone there and Stoooo and Tunie showing up was an unexpected bonus. I wish I would have arrived sooner, the corner weighting clinic would have been good to see.

Let me know when you see some dancing elephants too.
It was Smirnoff Ice, not Zima. My mother-in-law tells me that Smirnoff is classier. Since I wouldn't know class if it taught me to tap dance, I have to bow to her words of wisdom.
As for the dancing elephants... I wonder what kind of tutus they would wear and where would they get ballet slippers.
I just went off into a five minute daze imagining little elephants trying to find slippers and their overly-enthusiastic mommas barging through little shops, using their noses to find the right size and check the quality with their prehensile appendages. And don't get me started on what the grown up male elephants would look like in their tights. The males have two prehensile appendages... Curse you, Discovery Channel! Curse you and your all-too-revealing camera shots of big elephants making little elephants!
Off to try and find something, anything really, that will get snake-like movements of elephant willy out of my head,
Trish
