Just a reminder to make sure everyone registers early for the Milwaukee National Tour Event July 7-8. The event has a 300 driver cap, is already at 58, and will probably hit the limit before June 1st. Lets make sure we have a strong MAC contingent at this excellent event!

Click Here for Online Registration (http://www.scca.com/Event/Event.asp?Ref=4415)

Should we start talking about hotel rooms?

I will have the RV there and will be staying at Miller park.

If you don't mind dogs, $25 a night (RV gas money)

Alright Shane!! Welcome to the bigs. I would get hotel reservations made before registering. I'm working on getting a deal with the marriot Residence Inn, but I plan on staying on site in my parents motorhome. If I do book a roon there, it will be there for someone to use if needed.

This event will fill, is absolutely worth the trip. and we'll have a great group from the Northland!

Yup... right now, i'm just looking to bunk up with someone booking a hotel room.

i've got an areo bed and a sleeping bag.
Worst case scenario: digg out my old boy scouts tent, pray there aren't too many holes in it, and find a campsite/walmart

Neal, Darryl and I are signed up for both the tour and the cone clinic on that Friday.

Neal and I have a room at the La Quinta on Bluemound Rd. They do not charge for a dog. The Residence wants $100 non refundable for Parker to stay with us. Oh well, it isn't much ****her down the road and is nice and clean.

Yep, you need to be a member. Go to www.scca.com (http://www.scca.com) and click "join now". It'll give you an online form and payment option. After you've been issued your member number, click on scca.com's solo link, then National Tour, click Milwaukee, and the appropriate registration and info links are on the right.

Zak, like Chris said, the money spreads out. The membership is required. But if you are planning to go to Nationals, going to a Tour saves you money.

It's $90 to run a tour event, but if you don't run a tour before going to Nationals, you pay a $90 waiver fee. So going to a National Tour is like going to a free event :)

Yeah, except I wont be going to nationals probably ever. No way I can take that much time off to autocross when I can barely get enough time to go on a yearly vacation with my family.

I'm on the fence, I think $80 to join the scca is absolutely ridiculous as I really only wanted to attend one event. I'm going back to school in a month and money might be too tight to make such a donation to an organization which by and large doesn't affect my life at all and I don't plan on being a very active member of.

how much is the entry fee to the tour event in milwaukee? i cant see it as i need to log in to the scca site to see any event details.

Phil,

People are willing to spend thousands of dollars on cars and mod’s then bitch about 80 bucks for a membership…

80 bucks, that's a lame excuse not to join the SCCA... Parts of our dues are used to preserve the sport of amateur and pro racing, and pay for good leadership, and a building and a good staff and a good magazine and great well ran events and, and, and, and...

It cost’s 80 dollars to go attend a Twins game…. It cost’s 80 dollars to do lot’s of activities…

Proud SCCA member... I see it as a great value...

For one event, I'd pass too...

I recommend going to Milwaukee just to run at the venue and see how good the competition is. Whether it is SCCA or WAI, it does not matter.

But the National Tour is really for those with SCCA title aspirations (and a chance at some contingency money). If you don't care about that, then I would not spend the money.

esper
05-30-2007, 04:48 PM
Well I was planning on going but have to back out now. Way too expensive for me at this point and time. I don't do nationals so I guess there is little point in donating $80 to the scca to run ~6 runs per year for their organization, I jsut wanted to see what a larger nationals style event was like, but don't want to pay the larger nationals style event prices i guess.

I'd recommend registering for the two-day Milwaukee Region event Sept. 8-9 instead. You'll spend a lot less money, the courses will be just as good, you'll get 6 runs each day, and the level of competition will be almost as high.

Friday and sat nights booked, checkout by noon on sun.
quick run down on the math with one other person brings this to $43.48 per head per night.

We can add a 3rd occupant too if someone's interested, and bring that down a little further.

Chris (or anyone else looking for a place to stay),

I have a room reserved at the Courtyard Marriott July 5, 6, 7. There's one bed available and space for a third person on an inflatable bed (I have one, if you don't). It's a nice hotel & good location. The room rate is $132/night - less expensive than Country Inn or the other nice places close to Miller Park.

They will be happy to hear you guys would like them to return. It's iffy right now. Last year, I offered them the BMW to go tour around Milwaukee and see the sites while we dink around in the hot parking lot. I mean, why would they want to waste time watching us? They never left the parking lot all weekend and enjoyed themselves a great deal. In large part, I'm sure, due to you guys being friendly and welcoming to them. Chris DeLay and I have a room reserved at the Courtyard Marriott July 5, 6, 7. There's still space for a third person on an inflatable bed (I have one, if you don't). It's a nice hotel & good location with free breakfast. The room rate is $132/night - less expensive than Country Inn or the other nice places close to Miller Park.

Who wants the air bed spot? Your cost will be <$50/night.

Not to compete, but likewise there is a spot available at the Marriot Residence Inn. About the same price, so you have choices.

Ivan and I just signed up. We aren't sure about the need for hotel yet. We are working on the possibility of a vehicle we could stay in at the track, in which case we will need you guys to include us when coning off the Mini-Minnesota area. :rockon

Steve, sorry to hear about your RV! That's a bummer, I bet 7 tons will hold a lot of paper!

Well, last year there were 241 people, so it's getting pretty close again this year. There are a few people missing from DS, however... we'll see if there are any last minute entrants.

Being that we're not threatening the limit just yet, there will be some last second entries.

Bah! Settle down Dave. I'm just giving Randy guff for buying a new car and not making it out to the Tour where he will be missed(and he had to Miss Nationals last year).

But with good reason! Congrats on the coming Wedding Randy!

As for a DS win, they are only hopes right now. But what's the point of trying if your not aiming for the top? ;)

I'm sure Noel and Sam Strano will have a good battle with their Mustangs in FS this year. Hopefully nothing needs to be trailered back except tires this year and I don't end up in last by so much. Running Azenis in ES was a bad idea.
