Hi everyone,

Did you run the computer in the Timing trailer in 2006? Did you enjoy it, but get occasionally frustrated by errors or false trips?

Do you want to learn from the masters how to handle all manner of timing challenges, which will let you help make our 2007 events run even more smoothly than 2006?

Or to put it another way, do you want others to tremble in awe at your MAD SKILZ YO! on the timing computers :rockon

If so, then the Timing "PhD" is for YOU!

Shane and I will be running a Timing "PhD" program during the classroom day of first Novice school, on April 21. We'll start at 9:00 AM (same time as the novice school) and will probably be done by noon (or whenever the tech line finishes-up).

We will go through basic system set-up & tear-down, and then spend a couple of hours teaching you all sorts of more complicated timing skills, including resolving problems like:

False start-line trips
False finish-line trips
"Forgotten" numbers (ie: a car's on the course but not in the computer)
Reports not printing correctly
and more...In 2007, "Graduates" from the PhD program will be given priority when volunteering to work in the trailer, with the caveat that we want to keep expanding our pool of folks qualified to run the system, so we the priority won't extend to putting multiple Timing "PhDs" in the trailer at during one heat.

NOTE: Because this session will cover advanced timing concepts, I'm limiting it to people who volunteered in the timing trailer in 2006, and who want to keep working there (at least some of the time) in 2007. If you havn't worked in the trailer but you REALLY want to get your "PhD," please send me a PM & we'll talk.

Participants:

Larry Bereuter (if schedule permits)
Gretchen Austin
murph (if he's in town)
Kerry Anderson
Tyler Bennett
Eric Austin
Carlos Davila
TBDIf you're interested (or want to recommend someone) please reply to this message or send me ( jberman ) a PM. I'll update this list as people are accepted.

We hope you can make it!!
