AFTON ALPS HILLCLIMB
Saturday, July 12, 2003
Registration begins at 8:30am. MANDATORY drivers meeting at 10:00am.
The Minnesota Austin-Healey Club invites you to TAKE THE HILL! Hillclimbs
enjoy a proud place in the history of European motor sports. Now you can be
part of that tradition, and make history with your own run TO THE TOP!
Drivers will run in the order they registered. If you miss the mandatory
meeting at 10:00am you will be limited to spectating. We should have enough
time to give everyone three runs. Bring your Snell 85 or newer helmet, and
any extra helmets you care to share. Vehicles need to be in good working
order, but neither roll bars nor fire extinguishers are required.
Runs will be timed, but please understand this is NOT a 10/10ths event!
This is a FUN RUN up a paved road next to the ski slopes. 4/10ths of a mile
long, and 250 feet up, this beautiful wooded course is lined with trees that
are NOT race-protected. The Minnesota Austin-Healey Club maintains a
spotless safety record and inexpensive insurance coverage, and we intend to
keep it that way. ANY DRIVER WHO DOES NOT MAINTAIN CONTROL OF HIS VEHICLE
WILL BE BLACK FLAGGED FOR THE DAY. We also reserve the right to refuse
service to any driver with too much fire in his eyes, so keep it safe and
have fun!
Directions: I 94 East past St. Paul, take exit 253 and turn right (south)
onto Manning Ave/Hwy 95. After 6.8 miles turn left onto 70th Street. After
3.5 miles turn left into the Afton Alps complex. Go past the golf course,
around the barricades, and left down the big hill.
Day-of-event driver registration is $15 and includes complimentary soda and
bottled water. Spectators are free and welcome. An all-you-can-eat buffet
luncheon will be served from noon to 5:00pm in the golf course clubhouse for
$10 per person. Awards and table racing in the clubhouse around 5:00pm.
