What does the [N] stand for after my name (Patrick Higgins) and my parents (Terry and Cheryl) located on the Entry list page? I just noticed that we are the only ones with them.
**EDIT**
Looks like someone else has one as well.

That stands for NotGonnaDoWell.
:D Just messin with you. I was wondering that as well. I saw a few of those when I registered.

Already 16 drivers registered, as of Saturday at 7:45 PM. If yo're planning to attend, register soon!

p.s. The [N] beside some peoples' names designates those drivers have some previous motorsports experience. This question was actually set up wrong in the entry form, as itwas supposed to designate drivers without experience - but the notation doesn't affect anything - so I'm not going to worry about it.

Nope, the class is not repeatable...
The Novice School "mission" is to teach people that are either new to the sport (no experience) or have limited experience (several events last year).
Having a new car or wanting to get seat time are not valid reasons for taking the class...
If you want seat time several clubs offer early events and Test & Tunes that you can go to before the MOWOG 1 & MOWOG 2 w/e. Yes they are a drive (Iowa & Wisconsin) but if you really want a head start this is available...

Event Description:
Time to think Autocrossing everyone! MAC will once again be hosting a 2 day school intended for NOVICE (less than 1 season experience, no previous autocross school) autocrossers who want to learn more about the sport, how to get started, what to bring, how to prepare, how an event is conducted, how to get the most from your driving experience, and more!

Also, if you haven't registered on www.myautoevents.com you should. There is info you can't see unless you're registered...

I must have missed that restriction, so I am ineligible to participate for this class. I have started a for sale thread for my entry in the For Sale/Wanted section on the Mac web site.
Here is a link to the post.

Boy, I'm not sure how it works, but I can't imagine we'll make you sell it online. Cancel and get a refund maybe?
Note also, that should the Novice School NOT fill up all available spots, we may elect to open it up to those with previous experience. This is at our descretion and we will make the spots available as we see fit. This is not real likely however, as the schools usually fill.

What are the requirements for the vehicle for this event? Would my daily driven CRX be okay?

You will be just fine in a CRX. Unless a vehicle is prone to roll-overs, it won't have issues.

Any 2 seat car that is safe will be allowed. Safe as determined by our technical inspection (which all students will learn about in the classroom session). No SUV's, or other high CG, crossover type vehicles that are a roll over risk. Things cars are most often not passed for include no battery tiedown, or bungee cord type tiedown, missing lugnuts or studs, weak brake pedal, any object inside, under the hood, or outside that can come loose during violent driving. Most people bring their daily drivers on whatever tires are on it. This will work great for you. All information about how to prep your car wil be reviewed in the classroom.
Please feel free top post with any additional questions, thanks!

My wife is all entered and ready to go, but we still have a little car work to do. needs new front rotors and we need to figure out how the battery system fares with tech inspection.
I am currently working on making a solid battery tie down, but its a classic mini so a bit different than what i'm used to working on. Was looking it over since you mentioned tech and memory served me correctly, the factry tie down is a canvas strap. It is in a well in the trunk as deep as the battery though, but I want to make something I dont have to screw into the metal to fabricate.
I'll make a separate tech thread for ideas I guess.

All signed up.
Is there a tech list somewhere? I know they will go over it on Saturday, but I would rather know now and fix anything I need to rather than scrambling Saturday night.

Basically, the battery tie down (must be mechanical - no bungee's), good lugs, good brakes, loose items under the hood, check throttle return spring, loose wheel bearings, good seat belts.

This will be my first season in autox and I'm really eager to attend the school but I've got a conflict on the 21st; one of my good friends is having a wedding in Chicago. Would it be possible to miss the 21st and only attend the 22nd? If not what are my other options?
Thanks!

I'll let the boss answer that, but even if they would allow it, you are better off to register for the second school later in the year.

The short answer is no - you need to attend both days. As Phil suggested, there will be a second Novice School June 16-17 that you can attend instead. We also have driving instructors at every event, so don't feel like you need to wait until the Novice School to start participating.

I'd like to take a look at it. We could potentially cook something up in the machine shop.

The April 21-22 Novice School is now full. We will be conducting a second Novice School on June 16-17, for those drivers unable to attend the April school.

Are we going to need car numbers for the school, or is that just for events?

You need car numbers. Not only are you practicing, but the timing crew is practicing also, and it is you on whom they are practicing. You do not need to display a class. Everyone for the first school has already been given a number. You may have missed the email I sent you.
Remember to bring your own method of putting the number on the car. While we will not be as critical as we are at a regular event, we don't want you to get into the habit of using shoe polish on the windows. If you use tape, be sure you have some wax on the car. BTW, there are really only two good colors for tape: White or black, depending on your car's color. Plan ahead.
If you have further questions about numbers, send me an Email or PM.

Or blue like everyone who likes tape that doesn't leave crap behind on their paint...

Painter's tape is available in both black and in white. The black is a little harder to find. There is nothing magic about the blue color on tape and there are a surprising number of car colors against which the stuff is indistinguishable at a distance.
And if residue is your problem, try more and better wax. I put duct tape on a new Lotus and it came off clean. Why? The owner had waxed the car thoroughly with carnuba. Painter's tape wouldn't stick to it...

Hey quick question. I was wondering if I could buy some of the MNAutox stickers at Sunday's event? How much are they again? If someone could bring one for me to buy at Midway Stadium that would be very appreciated. THANKS!!

We will try to remember to bring stickers tomorrow. We won't be there until lunch time. Stickers are $1.00 each.
Also-- (i-know-it's-kinda-late-but...) Sunday's lunch is sloppy joes, chips, and pop. So, if you don't like sloppy joes (the meat kind), you might want to bring your own lunch.
See you then!
Nikki
