Very Nice Mike,

Some more to add to the list:

Austin Healey Events:

Gymkhana (Classic Autocross)
Saturday July 14th (Rain day Sunday July 15th)

Hillclimb
Saturday June 2nd (Rain day Sunday June 3rd)

Airport Run #1
Saturday June 23rd (Rain day Sunday June 24th)

Airport Run #2
Saturday August 25th (Rain day Sunday August 25th)

Several things:

Non-Classic cars will be allowed (was talk of excluding them)
The Hillclimb will be designed to slow the speeds up the hill, once again, this is not a full out competition but a fun day out with your car, all it takes is one overzealous driver to close the event forever. Remember that there are large trees and dropoffs without any barriers between you and them except for your common sense...

Yes there will be two Airport runs this year! :rockon

Dates subject to change as always, I will post event/registration information on the events thread approximately one month ahead of each event.

Paul

Holy crap.

Note: anyone who complains that there are too many people at MAC events, or that they wish they could have had more runs... take note of this list. There is no shortage of SEAT TIME here in the Midwest.

We are so lucky!!

Now I just need to explain to my wife where I plan to be every weekend this year...

I left out a few things, mainly other clubs schools.

There are pleanty of overlap events, so you have the fun of picking and choosing which sites you hit the most.

EDIT: Updated. 15 MORE events added :D

DMVR events?

They have an event at Saylorville next weekend.

And they have a new venue in downtown Des Moines that Gretchen saw last weekend... she said it looks to be pretty large.

They lost the Saylorville site with very little notice. The last email I got said the 18th would be the last event there.

Not a great site but better than watching the snow melt up here...

I haven't seen they're dates yet. Are they posted?

Chris: Nationals didn't meet my criteria, but I should add it anyways. What are the dates for it this year?

They do have pre-registration links on the individual event page(s).

http://www.dmvrscca.org/solo0307.htm

The first link for pre-reg on the page must go to a disgruntled member's site, there's a rant about this-n-that... However, a little ****her down the page is a link to Myautoevents.com, where pre-reg (without pre-payment) is possible.

edit: wow... the word f a r t h e r was censored for having the word "f a r t" in it.

DMVR doesn't appear to be using the grayhound park at all this season. They are using some airport site, and a city parking lot. Anyone have an idea of how far these are away?

miata#37
03-10-2007, 03:08 PM
The city parking lot is somewhere is central Des Moines. Figure about 5 hours from the cities at legal highway speeds

The airport is in Oskaloosa. about an hour south of Des Moines. Supposedly it's big enough that they've held divisional events there in the past.

5 hours to DM, Chris, 250 miles to Des Moines from my house, 3.5 hours... Another 250 to Topeka, 3.5 hours... 7 hours for me... Less then 6 hours for Chris, well at his pace, more like 9 hours...

That's because I keep having to make stops at kohl's so you can buy clothes.

And from my house, Topeka could be reached in 6 hours.

If you really want to go to a lot of events, you can tag along with me on any of the road trips I plan to take. Just find me at an event some time.

Thanks.. may take you up on it!

I am running FWD for now (scion tC). More for the fun of it. If I were getting serious I would be finding a rwd to run for sure. But I own the fwd right now and have done enough to make it fun in the corners, so at least it gets me in the events and on the track. Suprisingly, for its weight, with the right springs, tires and sways it does pretty well with some good driving.

Hope to see you at some of the events!

FWD can be just as much fun. One of the most fun cars I have autocrossed was an Integra. Autocross is the "Drive what you have" sport :)

I wouldnt have beleived this until just this last weekend, BIG rear swaybars just make things so interesting :D

where can I find more information about this event
May 20 - SCCLAC - LOL Champ. Solo - Winona Tech

its probably already full... But winona is definately closer than a lot of the other sites for me. I think Im going to look into other clubs events due to our loss of central. IMHO I dont think dctc is the best venue for soloII, but Ill still probably hit all 3 mowogs there because its just so close

Be aware that Winona is a mini-DCTC. It's the same type of roadway type training facility. Tight noise restrictions. Not trying to talk you out of it....I always have a great deal of fun there. Great people, laid back and fun. Just thought I would make sure you knew what kind of site it is. You can show up and register on site.

Just be forewarned - the Madison club uses their own homegrown classing system (http://www.madisonsportscarclub.com/autocross/rules/). So it's kind of a crap shoot whether you have a competitive car for the class you're placed in or not.

awww, maybe nm then. Any cap on the number of attendees if I do indeed simply show up and register? I wouldnt want to be turned down if I made the trip down there.
And I assume miller park is a open lot site though? maybe I will end up going out to a couple of those...

If you're talking about winona they don't have a cap that I know of. Usually only 30ish people show up. Lots of fun, super laid back, usually get 6 runs min.:D

They only do day of event signup. I have never seen more than 35 entries at Winona. It makes for lots of runs. Usually 6-9 runs in a day.

either Im having some trouble navigating this site or Im just retarded. But do you know the cost and a specific address of the event? Its nice to be able to go just if the weathers nice. Id like to T and T a little to decide sway bar setting and tire pressures, but I hate to experiment too much at a mowog because I want to trophy this year soooo bad:)

Nice spin. You'll note that it is possible to roll your car in these situations. I know...I'm very forunate to have not rolled Pauls car (with him in it!) Keep that, and the trees and fences in mind as you have fun.
