maybe the "TBA Great lakes area"? That's the opinion expressed on scca-forums...

maybe the "TBA Great lakes area"? That's the opinion expressed on scca-forums... Exactly. The June 30/July 1 event is likely to be Peru.

On the Pro Solo side, things are looking very dicey. A five page letter has been sent out by Howard outlining temporary changes for 2007 during a "Rehab" year, and some promised new changed for 2008. Several single course designs. Totally wacked out idea IMHO. The changes for 2008 sound good, but I'm not sure PS will survive until then. We'll see.

Yeah, dicey is probably understating the situation. I'd put the chances of ProSolo surviving at less than 50%. Too bad - the Pro format is unique and a ton of fun.

Yeah, I'm kinda bummed about the ProSolo format dying out too. Might have to make an effort to get to at least one more this year, just to do it again before the series dies.

The upshot is that, if the Tours and the National Championships were to actually be marketed well for a change, there could be some real contingency. Sponsors were always pushed by the SCCA to fund ProSolo contingency, even though most of the racers always thought the Tours and Nationals were better competitions. At least the resource contention would go away.

On a related note, I'd really like to go to more than two or three big events next year. But they're all so freaking far away. Sometimes it really sucks living in a big country. :(

I agree. My second year of autocrossing, I went on a big two-week road trip and hit a tour and a pro solo. It was probably the most fun thing I've ever done in the Miata. Unfortunately, it was a rather expensive and time consuming trip that I can't see myself being able to do again for a long time.

In England, a hundred miles is a long distance.
In America, a hundred years is a long time.
