Well, it appears the late September scheduling for Solo Nationals was more than a one-year deal after all. There's already a bit of a firestorm about the schedule on sccaforums.com - especially regarding the very inconvenient ProSolo scheduling.

TOPEKA, Kan. (Nov. 8, 2006) – Sports Car Club of America, Inc. announced today the dates for its 2007 Tire Rack® Solo National Championships and National Championship Runoffs®, to be held at Heartland Park Topeka.

The 2007 Championships will follow the same schedule as the 2006 events, with the Tire Rack Solo Nationals occurring Sept. 25-28 and the Runoffs taking place Oct. 8-14.

“Our goal is to eventually have these events a little earlier on the calendar than they were this year, but that wasn’t feasible for 2007,” SCCA President and CEO Jim Julow said.

In 2007, the 35th Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Championships and 44th SCCA National Championship Runoffs will be held at Heartland Park Topeka for the second time. Both events crown the nation’s best amateur racers in both autocross and road racing disciplines.

2007 SCCA National Championship Schedule
Sept. 21-22 – Tire Rack SCCA ProSolo National Series Finale
Sept. 25-28 – Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Championships
Oct. 1-7 – Heartland Park Test Week on Runoffs Course
Oct. 8-14 – SCCA National Championship Runoffs

I don’t see this as a big deal at all… The weather was cool this year but dry… Late September weather seems a bit more stable according to a few of the Topeka guys I talked to at Nationals… They did say it was cooler then normal too…

The pro-solo dates are a killer… Friday / Saturday with practice on Thursday + travel… Then if you run the national solo Thursday and Friday the next week your looking at nearly two weeks… I’m guessing the pro-solo numbers will be down for the national tours as well as the final in Topeka…

Sweeeeet! Being a teacher, the later date is better. Seeing the kids for a couple of days and then taking off on a vacation isn't the best way to begin the school year!

Looks like Garnjobst is going to need a tire warmer....

That's kinda what I'm hoping for. Heck, after having a high of about 35 less than a week ago, we were in the 70's yesterday. That's life in the midwest.
