If you going to Evolution and are concerned about the rain wrecking the driving, don't be. While it makes for uncomfortable course working, the rain does not affect the results you'll see from the school at all. In fact it can give the instructors and opportunity to provide additional help since your inputs will be magnified on a more slippery course. All out time is not important, comparing your times to youself is what it's all about.
Just wanted to throw that out there in case anyone was bumming over the wetness.

I wouldn't mind the rain so much if my head with a helmet on fit in my miata comfortably :p

Trying to beat a National Champion Evolution Instructor's time is also a big plus.
Even though the Instructors are not likely to be familiar with your car and they will not be driving it 10/10ths, you will still get an idea of how much you can improve as a driver.

I attended Evo 1 last year in the rain and it actually helped with car control.
As far as having an instructor drive your car, Tim Aro drove my Civic and I couldn't believe how fast he could go in the rain. Then after a while, I couldn't believe how fast I could go. Wish I was going this year...

I easily beat both the National Champions in my Lotus. I don't think for a second that that actually means anything.
I actually took more pride in the fact that Jean Kinser, five seconds into her first drive of the car, exclaimed, "wow, this is really cool". Made me think I'd built something right somewhere.

The EVO school has been mentioned to a couple of potential future site managers- so that they can get a first hand feel of autocross. Hopefully they can make it out there since there isn't anything in town for quite awhile.

Hopefully, they will introduce themselves so I know who they are. It would be great if they did show up.

EVO #1 Rocked!!! Thanks again Pat for getting it all togather, and thanks to our instructors for a job well done. And thanks to the weatherman, who kept the rain away until the wrap up and pack up of the cars for the long drive home. My first to last times reflected a "loss" of 7 seconds per lap !!!!!
Is there anyway to see the overall results of the group? Fun to see where you "placed" even though there are no trophies or beauty queens to kiss, and also neat to congradulate others of the amounts of time they dropped.

I'm also curious about other people's results. I suppose we could post them ourselves.
My very first run was my slowest run, and my very last run was my fastest run:
1st run:
4.625 7.408 7.254 9.391 6.860 35.538
last run:
3.994 6.696 6.896 8.716 6.691 32.993
I had a wonderful time, and I'm extremely excited to get out there and drive again. It was money well spent!
If anybody is thinking about it next year, I strongly suggest you do it - no matter how much experience you might have - I have only about 8 or 9 events under my belt. I'm thinking about retaking it again next year.

Hey Ed, I to was wondering how the rest of the world did, so thanks for sharing. I'll post mine too. As with yourself, my last was fast, my first was worst:
5.692, 7.731, 8.601, 10.782, 7.494, total time: 40.300 (first)
4.428, 6.590, 6.950, 8.799, 6.335, total time: 33.102 (last)
4.416, 6.697, 6.750, 8.354, 6.671, total time: 32.888 (best time, Andy)
Considering I am giving up about 50% hp to the "super" miata, I'm pretty happy with these results. Once you get a limited slip in that you'll be even more deadly.
I think the best part for me was getting up the balls to blast into the sweeper and drift the 914 around to the fun box. Or the not so fun box, depending on how you entered it.
Your car looked great out there, flat and fast!
I compaired times with the red acura parked next to me, the guy from Milwaukee. He was the guy I shared my first runs with. I don't know if you recall the car and driver, but he was super tight in the slalom at the end, and when the VTEC kicked in, that car would howl!!! His best was a mid 33 as I recall. I was suprized to have a better time.
Not sure how anyone else did, as with rain coming I spent more time packing up than hanging out.
Anyone else, add yours to the listing! By the way, where can we get cool "evolution" stickers that have seen on other cars...
