The fourth round of the 2006 LOL RallyCross series will be held Sunday August 20th in Cannon Falls, MN.

Visit the event webpage for all of the details. www.geekspeedrally.com (http://www.geekspeedrally.com/)

The event will be held in an old soybean field, that is now a hay field. Food and beverage will be available for a donation. This venue was a blast last time. It held up really well.

We have updated our online registration system. You must pre-register if you plan to attend. You can still pay at the event or online. The decision to have or cancel the event will be based on the number of pre-registered competitors as of the Wednesday prior to the event. Pre-registration will be open until 5PM Saturday August 19th. We need to have 15 entries pre-registered by Wednesday, August 16th, or the event may be cancelled.

The Land O' Lakes RallyCross Series is presented by Subaru.net. Visit www.subaru.net (http://www.subaru.net/) for all your Subaru needs.

Official updates will happen here:
http://www.specialstage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23100

Again, I invite any and all of you to come out and participate. I think a little more organized autocrossers could teach us a thing or two about running our events, and sometimes a thing or two about driving, even on dirt :)

Someday I want to participate in an event like this. But I need a car I'm not afraid to drive in the dirt!!

You know, the ITR would be perfect for rallycrossing. Well balanced, good power, LSD...

too bad the schedule conflicts with our August 20th event ( I wish it was on Saturday, I would definitely be there). :x

I drove the course with the landowner and we worked on some proposed changes to improve the flow of the course.

I can not tell you how much fun this is. The course is smooth dirt and not very bumpy. I drove a stock Impreza automatic on all-season tires and had no issues whatsoever. Any car with street tires should be fine.

This is a 3+ minute course. If you are interested in Rallycross or just love sliding your car sideways, you need to go to this event.

Hmm further confirmation I should bring my Ranger out just for some motorsports fun, haven't done much this season.

I ran my Ranger in the last event and if I can find the time I will again this month...

I was a spectator at a Rally Cross event and thought it looked like alot of fun. I'm seeking some opinions about running my 325 xiT at this event. Since I'm running with all wheel drive and the factory all season Michelins, I would think it would do well at the event. My only concern would be ground clearance. The car is my primary daily driver so I wouldn't want to damage it.

Any opinions from those who have run the Rally Cross?

as long as it has not been lowered, you should be fine.

FWIW - I rallycrossed my VR-4 a couple years ago and I had no problems, just a lot of mud. They were watering the course to keep the dust down and one spot got a little too much water. This venue is much, much larger and more remote.

Go as if you plan to enter. Then when you get there walk the course and decide after you've seen the course and any possible bumps. I've done several rallyx's and I've never damaged anything but it is possible.

That's a good plan.

It has also happened in the past that the event master has allowed a slow-speed parade lap that happened before the event officially started, such that people could make up their minds, but that was at a particularly rough event (this won't be).

I always say, like any other form of motorsport, the level of danger is controlled by your right foot.

The cars I have seen have some issues with the courses are Audis. They tend to have relatively low suspension, and somewhat soft springs. They bottom out enough to catch the plastic splash pans under the engine and tear them off. But it's not like the course is covered with rocks, bottoming out generally won't cause any issues unless your oilpan sits lower than your lowest frame member, which I've never seen (though I'm sure on some car it does).

Man, this sounds like fun. I was going to run my mazdaspeed protege at Dakota, but maybe i'll pull out the clean old SE-R out of the garage and give it a good mud bath before I hand over the keys to my brother in a few weeks!

Does one typically walk the course? Sounds like it could be too long for that. How many runs?

Would old beatup snow tires work ok? or how about totally bald R tires?!

You could walk the course. I'd suggest getting there early if you really want to :)

Last time we did a parade lap, I'd expect we'll do one again.

I'm always happy to see people competing in SE-Rs. And even if you beat me, it still makes my car look like a good buy :)

Old snow tires are a good option, though the soft sidewalls can cause issues.

I think I've figured out my own tire problems (well, I have a theory), and it's more suspension than tire. We'll see on the 20th.

I'm going to predict 6 runs. But that's just a guess.

does my replacement non-adjustable shocks (tokico blue) bump me from rally stock to rally prepared? seems like a non-advantage wear item replacement to me, but then I'm new to all this. i guess the blues are considered high performance.

thx
out

p.s. i'm jazzed after seeing the x-games rally event. not that i have a awd super car or that we'll doing jumps.

Tokico blues are an OEM equivalent replacement (in fact the stocks in the B13 SE-R are Tokicos, and they are probably the same). So, no, as long as you have no performace mods, you'd be in the SF (Stock Front) class.

Full rules at: http://www.scca-lol.org/rally/rallyx/2006rallycrossrules.pdf

There are 8 classes:

SF - Stock FWD
SR - Stock RWD
SA - Stock AWD
PF - Prepared FWD
PR - Prepared RWD
PA - Prepared AWD
M2 - Modified 2WD
M4 - Modified AWD

Stock is basically cosmetic mods only, Prepared is typical bolt-on type stuff, sway bars, STB, etc. Modified is for serious power mods (turbos, etc), gutted, etc.

I run M2 (no interior).

Isn't M2 for rally car builds in progress?

Mark Holden

It could be. It's also where logbooked 2WD rally cars (like Utecht's Mustang) go.

We need another 7 people by this evening if the event is to go on!

If you're thinking about coming, please preregister today!

c'mon! 7 more, let's do it!

Aren't a few of you autocrossers a little curious like I've been the last few years? Isn't the asphalt thing getting a little old? isn't your car's e-brake feeling a little neglected?

We have 13 entries (I believe) and we need 20 to pay the bills, so if anyone was thinking about coming, now would be a good time to register. Rallymaster has said that he will make his decision tomorrow AM.

I realize it's a conflict with a MAC event, so I'm not really expecting many of you to show up, but I gotta try :)

The event is a go! We need four walk-ons to break even, so bring a friend or two :)
