Since it is a Saturday event, and we're not planning to go anywhere on Sunday, we thought we'd hang out on the deck, pop a cold one, and fire up the barbie after we get home from M5. Anyone want to join? We're in Apple Valley about 10min away from DCTC...

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&saddr=13475+Ferris+Ave,+apple+valley,+mn+55124&daddr=1300+145th+St+E,+Rosemount,+MN&ie=UTF8&om=1

Anyone interested? Very informal. If you want to get in on the "lazy" option, here's the menu:

* Burgers
* Chips
* Some sort of potato salad/cole slaw/stuff
* Various soda (pop)
* Leinie's Honey Weiss

Post up your name here if you want in so I know about how many to expect, and I'll pick it up on Friday. Donations accepted at the event. Anyone else is of course still welcome to join...just that the "pre-registered" get first dibs on the mass quantities.

I could be up for that - the wife and kids will be up nort, so I'm free.

Sort of a BYOM&B?

I was planning on just tossing some burgers down on the pavement or on my hood at M5.

I just realized you two live on the same block my best friend back in school lived on.... I grew up over the hill, further south, off of Galaxie.

I will have to see how I feel after the event...if it is really 98F and humid, I may be too drained. ;)

copycat.

Wish I could be there, I'll be up 'nort at a wedding/hangover saturday...

The good news, (NO, I didn't save a bundle on my car insurance by switching to...) is that if we get home at a decent hour, I may have some time on sunday afternoon to get after the 914, which is still awaiting 1) parts, and 2) time. If Saturday goes as expected, I may not have the radio on in the garage.

Have a great M5 and pop a cold one for me.

Yeah, but that's just a suggestion. We could do whatever works.

Any suggestions? I could pick up some basic stuff (burgers, dogs, chips, beer, etc) if people want to chip in...

I may be interested. I just found out M5 is on Saturday just now though....I'm not paying attention to stuff very well this year. :) If I do, I will probably need a place to stay and then take off Sunday AM for home when it's cooler.

Pat:

We should check with Parker, but the futon is available if you need a place to stay on Saturday.

Normally, I'd be all over this, but 100-degrees with a dewpoint in the mid-sixties changes the outlook a bit. I think I'll be heading home to a shower and a long soak in the AC to recover.

I wouldn't mind a pot luck especially since your only about 30 seconds from my house off Cedar and 140th. The only thing that would prevent me is if it really is over 100 degrees and I'm about to pass out from being in the sun all day.

I'd show up. The pot luck wouldn't work too well for me since I live on the other side of town. But I guess I could always run to the store after the event. I'd be more then willing to pitch in cash.

What's another couple hours outside after you've already suffered thru it most of the day? :)

No AC in the GOLF? That is a hell of a long drive with no AC.

I remember driving across death valley in a $200 CRX with the heat (to keep it from overheating) on in 120 degree day. I was young then and would never do it again.

as long as I'm not keeling over from exhaustion, i'll probably show.
as for pot luck, i don't think that's gonna work for me... but i could swing by the grocery store on the way there and pick up some soda/chips/etc... any requests?

P.S. katie... nice avatar. Motoko Kusinagi FTW... RAWR. :p

I like the idea of bringing a few bucks for burgers and chips. Less work for everyone and it would be a pain for everyone to bring food.

There is a Cub Foods and a Shenanigan's Liquor Store in Rosemount on Cty 42 that is between DCTC and our house.

Anyone can easily pick up whatever is needed or desired.

We will have the AC cranked and our deck is shaded by a couple of trees. We could probably run the sprinkler for those who want a quick shower :beer: :alc: :gunnin: :conecar:

I'm in!

I'm always starving after events (I snack in the early morning and then forget to eat).

Although should I be as far down the poll in C-Stock as I am guessing, I may be going home with my head hung in shame.... Damn you adam and randy... *shakes fist*

Nah, I'll be there :)

As long as I'm not suffering heat stroke by then I'll be there!

Any chance MAC could pick up the tab as after the event bench racing?

If so I'd be willing to pick up enough non-perishables, I'd just need a count.

(buns, catsup, mustard, chips, pickles...)

Hello, what about Josh...

Mike, never go home with your head down...

I just spent the last two years getting beat by Randy, Adam, Barry I'm sure if Ivan were in the class by him too... I didn't give a rat's... These guys helped me a ton over the last couple years... If I'd a beat them I'm sure they would of been just about as happy as I was... Winning is over rated, it's what you learn, not the result that matters...

Oh, sorry Neal and Katie I'll be working that day... We will hook up soon for dinner...

Your right! Damn Adam, Randy, Ivan, Josh, Barry, Gretchen, and anyone else I forgot!

I won't be going home sad. I was just off my game last weekend, on a somewhat odd course (not a normal autocross course). Hopefully everything will go better on R's (streets were on last weekend) and with a course that plays more to autocross fundimentals(sp?)

I'll just be happy to be driving my Miata :)

That autocross section at the hillclimb was an autocross course. You had to read it just like any other autocross course. There was nothing there that didn't respond to autocross fundamentals.

I'll probably be there, my fiancee is doing her bachelorette party on saturday, so maybe some extra leeway is in order.

the heat won't be too bad. I like it, it reminds me of back home in DC. I just can't stand the cold.

I am thinking of stopping by ikea tomorrow at work and getting a few of those cheap umbrellas to resell at DCTC, I think it might be beneficial for ighter skinned folks who burn easier or people who need shade. i figure I'll probably get 5-10 or so.
