Hey folks- must make room for a new project, so must put this Rabbit hotrod up for sale:

'84 4 door, extra clean body, gutted. VW sport seats, older harness. Chassis and suspension are perfect - I can't get this car to understeer and must hand all props to Rex for that. H&R springs, poly bushings everywhere, frame reinforcements front lower and back upper. 1.7 liter engine w/shaved 1.8 head/injection. 4-2-1 header. Lot's of other well thought out prep's; can't remember half. Got a few sets of wheels; you pick. Great way to start autocrossing for $1250 firm. Call Chris @ 651 329-4004.

So what's the new project?

I found an '83 Gti (my first love) that I thought would be fun to build and drive. Body and drivetrain are decent; all running gear is old & crusty. Just going to keep it simple w/bolt on stuff: cam & sprocket, t body, header, exhaust. Suspension work, of course - using the 4 door as a blueprint. And you? Any new steed for the cones?

Hey --

I know a guy that's selling an '83 out by Chicago for $300. It has high miles, but I guess it runs good. No rust, just faded paint and what not. Very light front-end damage.

I haven't seen it in person. I was going to buy it for a rally car project, but my wife put the kabash on expanding my car collection. (Smart woman)

Here are some bad pictures:

Again, I don't know the guy personally, so I can't vouch for him or the car.

His name is Josh Verdon. Email: metrotek@sbcglobal.net

I sold the last of my Merkurs back in Jan. and am nursing a '91 GTi 8v back to daily-driver status. Not so much as a project or autocrosser, just a fun every-day car that needs a bit of elbow grease. It certainly doesn't breath fire like my '86 Merkur, but it's a blast in the twisties and gets great mileage. VWs were my first love, I guess I'm coming back to the fold you could say.

Traitor! :) Besides, you told me you were driving the GTi in the Eau Claire autocross.

The GTi and I will be attending the Eau Claire autocross, but the car is by no means an intended "project car". Just a fun daily-driver that DOES happen to get great mileage and DOES happen to be slower than my Merkurs. Harold, I've known cars a lot longer than I've known you; VWs were my first love.:)
