OK - I'll be your stand-in.

Put me wherever you need me Steve. I could probably do general setup in the early morning, and then tech in the later morning (I'll get there early enough to swap tires before we get into the site).

What time are they opening the gates for use?

I assume this will be a two run group event? (as opposed to three?) Will we need to work twice or just once? Do the listed positions above fulfill none/one/both of your work assignments for the day?

Two run groups.

Drivers will only need to work once.

The volunteer positions above count as a work assignment. However, we encourage members with experience as a computer operator, radio control, announcer, starter, or sign-up captain to also work a session during the event - as we're usually short for these positions.

So it sounds like the time to show up for course setup would be 7:00am also?

Thanks, Steve!

I'm on vacation right now in DC-- and finally got a hold of a computer so I could make up a little volunteer sign-up. Looks like I'm 17 hours too late.

Who needs event masters when we have STEVE!? ;)

Anyway-- thanks to all of those who have signed up already.

I would love it if we could be especially prepared in the registration department since I might not be at the front tables the entire time.

One more important thing:

If you are the early-bird who opens up those waivers and wristbands before anyone else-- please make sure you pass on a marker to the waiver guy or gal so they can mark the people who are not drivers or part of a driver's crew. See the thread about Waiver & Wristband Policy.

Thanks again,

Nikki

Nahh...Matt didn't think you would have time to post a sign up list, so I took care of that task. I'll let you do all the work on Saturday, though. :dancin:

Oh OK, since I've never been at the site I wasn't sure what "opening the gates for use" meant. I will show up earlier.

I'll work gate/ waivers/ wristbands from 7:00 to 8:30.

How do we get credit for having worked these positions?

Steve has the print out of the list he is making in his first post at the event. They will know you aready worked.

You'll need to be there early to get the grid setup. Then, you'll need to make sure the grid workers & starter for each heat know what they're supposed to be doing. Are you comfortable with that? And yes, you can still run.

Easy to figure/the EM or someone with more experience can tell you when to release them, it's not rocket science (but wait just a little longer before sending Steve G & Neal/Katie so they don't run over the car in front of them)

And leave a little extra after Known Cone Abusers so they have time to reassemble the course.

I should be there for numbers and instruction.

BTW, if anyone wants magnetics, order them now. I don't have time to make numbers on spec, and my selection is not broad just now. If you just come up to Registration cold, there is a good chance I will not have what you want.

Isn't Chief of work assignments just a rephrasing of chief of workers? WHat other position did he fill?

You're confused (and a bad speller too ;) ). We never listed a Chief of Workers position for past events. FYI - Every "Chief" works just like every other volunteer - just moreso.

Ok, here's the plan. I'll jump the fence around 6am. You toss some cones over to me, and I'll start on the course. When they come to open it, I'll hide down the hill until the coast is clear. Then run over, unpack the trailer and quickly move on to doing Tech!

That's about the only way I can see working it into my day :)
