Hope everyone is ready! Here's a couple quick things as we get closer:
I saw a post about finding the Skogmo Room. I will leave my Bright Red 1987 VW Golf in front of the garage door, which is next to the main entrance. This will help you find it.
There will be a security guard on duty, and he will ask you to sign in. This is for University Security only.
Please do not try to park in the parking lot. It is very small, and we will be using it to shuttle cars through when doing tech inspection. Parking is a little tight, but you should be able to find spaces on the streets around the building.
Please have it as ready to be inspected as possible. You do not need numbers, and your tires do not need to be up to pressure. Just make sure all the stuff is out of it. If you are not sure....go out and look at your battery tie down now. Single most popular failure in tech.
Please be prompt. We will get started on tie as we have lots to cover. All the things you will need for Sunday will be covered in the class.
That's all I can think of for now. Look forward to meeting everyone Saturday!

Pat,
As I posted a while ago, I can take care of getting the course set up, so you have time to greet students and get the instructors ready to go. I can snag a couple volunteers when I get there. I assume we're using the same course as last year? If so, I'll print off a few maps for setup helpers. Plan on doing a walk through to review the setup at approx. 7:30 - 7:45 AM.
On a related note, who's bringing the trailer to Midway? It doesn't look like the Miata will be ready, so I could tow it there, unless someone else is already planning on it. In any case, I want the trailer onsite NO LATER THAN 6:30 AM (6:15 AM would be even better).

So we will be doing tech at the classroom session?
Good to know - I wouldn't have had my stuff out of my car then.

Helping set up the course would help me visualize it all in my head too. I plan on being there early to help with set up on Sunday (if need be).

Help! My daugter is registered for this weekend's class and just blew out her ACL. Is it possible for her to move her and her finacee's registration to the 2nd class?

You should be very careful where you park… They love to hand out tickets in that area… A couple years ago a state trooper handed several out… If you need to park in a lot on the other side of a building and walk a block that would better then a ticket…
Lee, where to park other then the street?

OK, this worries me. We're expecting 60 odd people to show up at a location for a class, and parking seems to be an issue. This isn't the first time the class has been run at this location. Surely the question of where to park would have been addressed by now.

I don't want to sound cold but:
This is a very busy area with limited parking, it's up to the people taking the class to be careful & read signs before they park, we teach a class there once a year for four hours, it's not like we're there every day.
Besides, thanks to Darryl you're forewarned...

Just send the details to macregistrar@comcast.net, and we'll get them moved.

Thanks for all the help Steve!! (BTW, please e-mail me the copy of the map you have.) I have an old PDF, but it prints too light to be any use.
Parking can be an issue if you want to park right next to the place. As Darryl mentioned, there is parking close...you just may have to walk a block. Parking is at your own risk, so listen to our friend Darryl. While we would like to do something about it, our budget just doesn't include building a new parking lot right now! :)

Hm, might want to e-mail everyone and let them know of that... It's not on the myautoevents page and to be honest I really didn't know this up until today.
Was this stated somewhere earlier?

Also, beside that, how are people supposed to know how to pass tech if they have never autocrossed before? Might be a good idea to send some e-mails out to everyone to let them know what you'll be checking - it's not safe to assume people have read the rules or whatever beforehand... Not everyone checks this site often!

If the car is in working order, there shouldn't be any issues when the car is teched. Although it might be a good idea to send out an e-mail suggesting that people removes the extra stuff they are hauling around in their trunk before they come.

That's what this e-mail was originally for. :) (Read first post)

Sorry, Pat - this doesn't count as an email. ;)
MAE lets us send a mass email to all registered drivers - which I did this morning.

Neat. Thanks!
Hmm, I haven't gotten the email yet. I will let you know when I get it. I do get the auto-email sent to remind me of the events.
This is good to know as I need to figure out how to secure my battery.

I was wondering about helmets, too. According to the email, those will also be checked on Saturday.
It was also nice to see the other thread posted regarding proper parking for the class.
Stuart.
Yes please bring your helmet
Lee F
How empty does the car have to be on Saturday? Floor mats out? Glove box emptied? Radar detector pulled?

yes, yes, and yes
remove all loose items and anything that may slip or bang around.
You need to concentrate on driving, not doging flying objects and figuring out what that loud crashing sound was.
It's more fun when you have less things to worry about
Get those batteries tied down with a metal battery clamp (available at all auto parts stores). The battery should not move if you push it with your hand.

I might have a bit of a problem. I had a brain **** a while back and didn't put my Power Steering fluid cap back on after topping off the resevoir, and it shouldn't have been a problem until I went to pick up the replacement at Walser today to find out they ordered me the wrong part. So I'm kinda in a bind as Nissan changed the design of the cap for the 02+ engines it seems, so the driveway full of other nissans does me no good. Right now I have it secured from spillage with wax paper and hefty rubber bands. It seems to work well, no spillage nor is fluid evident on the cover after any driving. Is this going to be a problem for tech tomorrow, or am I going to have to make a run to a junk yard after the class tomorrow to search for one, mostly likely easiest to find on a 02+ Altima. If this is necessary, junk yard suggestions? Or I may have my dad pick one up during the day.

car-part.com lists tons of compatible Power steering pumps in the state..
run the search on their site, and call around.
otherwise, I'm sure whoever's doing tech tomorrow can give you a better answer.

I can't wait until class starts. :D
BTW I didn't get an e-mail either. I'm pretty sure my Rx-7 will be good to go. I just overhauled the brakes, checked my wheel bearings, battery tie-down, have no fluid leaks, and everything inside is tied down.

That's because this thread is in reference to the novice school that happened two weeks ago ;) :P I'd watch your inbox for an email in a week and half or so ;)
