If I do the baffling killer (aka warm up the muffler and put water in it) to my muffler do I get kicked out of Stock class???

I would think you're safe. Stock class rules indicate that cat.-back exhaust systems are open, provided they exit in the stock location and meet sound-restriction minimums.

Since exhaust systems from the cat back are free, why not just buy a good, free-flowing system. Racing Beat, Borla, and Cobalt all do systems and are all priced about the same - around $450. These flow better than stock, and don't sound like a **** can from Checker.
I'm always leery of these "great fixes" that involve trying to break the baffles loose. For some reason, I find it hard to know where the broken baffle parts go. What if they wind up blocking flow even worse?
If your budget is really tight, go to the Wonderful Muffler Man (Rice St and Lake Owasso Blvd in Little Canada) and have him remove the stock muffler and put in a 24 inch glass-pack. It'll cost you less than half of a Racing Beat system. The tone probably won't be as nice (and may sound like a **** can) as the Racing Beat or Borla, but at least you'll know that the exhaust is free flowing.

Yes.

I can't find a rule like that. I can find one in the general stuff that says "Exhaust must exit behind driver or to the side of the car."
>and meet sound-restriction minimums.
Yes. What's in there is not the point for sound control. It's how loud and obnoxious it is. If the Eventmaster says it's too loud, it's too loud.

Actually, our rules have a bit of a problem in this area (I was looking into it earlier).
Our rule on exaust reads:
All vehicles must have a street legal exhaust system. Non-STOCK classes may have open exhausts at the Eventmaster's discretion.
I don't like it and wish I'd seen it before the rules meeting. What is a street legal exhaust system? Does this mean that you can't run a formula car without approval from the event master? How does one go about verifying street-legality? Every class from SP on up allows cat removal. Does that mean I'd need permission to run an SP-legal car? How can you enforce this when the law doesn't even state a clear, objective sound limit.
The SCCA class rules point to the following section in the Solo rulebook regarding sound requirements:
3.5 MUFFLERS
Adequate mufflers are required for Solo events. The criterion of
“adequacy” is not what the exhaust system consists of, but the
sound level. Any car deemed by the Event Chairman or his
designated representative to be excessively loud shall not compete
without acceptable modifications installed on the car.
This rule applies to all classes from Stock to Modified and makes a hell of a lot more sense, but is even more arbitrary in its criteria.
