Does anyone know if the Toyo T1-R or T1-S is a competitive street tire?

They make a 205/55/15 size which is slightly preferable for the Mini to the 205/50/15. I don't think any of the other fast street tires comes in a 55 profile... ?

Any input? Thanks!

Very competitive for what? They're a very good tire for street use - they're not a very good autox tire.

Don't buy those tires!

An option in that size is the S03 Pole Position, but they are big bucks ( $128 ).

Thanks Steve and Adam. I am thinking about running HST at MAC next year, so I am looking for a tire to autocross on.

I can run 205/50's, but I thought if there was a nice option in 205/55, that'd be better. I'm also thinking about trying to get some 16" wheels, I think the Hankook comes in like a 215/45/16.

I'm kind of in the same boat. I have new 17x8 wheels for the BMW and will need some summer tires that could handle an autox or 2.

There is a rumor that prices of 615 Azenis are being discounted at Edge Racing. That is the tire to have unless the new Federal is legal and knocks the Azenis off of the pedestal.

The Hankook RS-2 is a very good tire for the price, but go for the 615 if they are now close in price.

OOOOOOH! 225/45-17 for my WRX Wagon

Was $154

Now $112

I'd really like a 235/40-17 but now that these are close to the price of the RS2's I'm thinkin I'm gonna have to bite!

Thanks for the heads up!

Steve

Adam

Thanks again for the Edgeracing Heads-up!

Just ordered the 225/45-17's and saved $168 on a set of 4 over what I would have paid at the regular price. (Assuming they actually have them after they get back on Monday)

Thanks again! Lunch is on me at the first Mac event in the spring!

I didn't save that much.
195-60-14
Sears special order 82.64
Edge Racing reg 80.00
Edge Racing sale 64.00

The 48.44 for shipping is partially offset by the 23.14 I would have spent on sales tax at Sears.

It seems your tires were marked down 27.3% and mine 23.8%. So it goes.

I may buy Adam lunch, but it will be for finding and inspecting my car.

Like me....you basically came pretty close to getting a tire for free. Not a bad deal in my book! I think you at least owe him a soda. I believe I borrowed you one from me at M8 so you could get your afternoon caffein buzz......so you can pay him with that one..... I keed! I keed!

No problem. I enjoy looking for good deals for all my pals from MAC! I am a tire and car salesman at heart.

I got yelled at by the wife for buying Miata tires in the middle of winter, but I'm content that I saved money. Now I gotta pay it off the Visa so I can buy some nice wheels to fit the new tires ;)

Someone buy my Miata 14-inch'ers!

Yeah....I ordered the tires from work. My wife was off all this week so she got the e-mail confirmation before I got home and had a chance to butter her up. :D Just kidding....she was just confused because I had said I was going to order the rims in January and tires in February or March....when ever a "Deal" came up.

So...I too have a set of tires coming for which I have no rims....oh the dillemas....how to spend my hard earned money.

Adam....can you start looking for an extra special deal on a set of Rotas..... :D

Not to get a buzz. To avoid a headache. I have about the lightest drug addiction you can imagine: I have one Coca-Cola each day around noon. Hard to believe that this small use produces withdrawal symptoms if I don't get it, but it does!

Thanks again!

I saw that. I doubt I will like them as a daily driver so I have been thinking Kuhmo MX's would fit the bill a little better. Just curious if anyone else knows of a good option.

All tests that I have seen have shown the Hankook to be faster than the MX, rain or shine. The Hankook will also ride good compared to a 215 Azenis.
Despite all this, STS civics still get great results from the MX's.

Note: These wheels won't fit Steve's WRX, as his car requires 5 x 100 bolt pattern.

What Steve said....appreciate the attempt though....these would fit and STI but not my WRX. ;)

I just found a set of Rotas with Azenis for sale used on clubwrx.net.....they are 17x8's though and I think I am better off with 17x7.5's.....I think if I had remember they were there (had seen it earlier) I might have bitten before I ordered the tires.

Thanks again for the try Adam.

I was eyeing the Hankook Ventus Rs2 Z212, but then when I saw the price of the Falkens fall I started thinking about the 615's them to. It will all come down to ride, performance, and price.

Looking for 225/45R17's. And here is my short list.

Brand/Model: Shipped
Kumho Ecsta ASX: $400
Hankook Ventus Rs2 Z212: $424
Falken Azenis Rt615: $507
Kumho ECSTA MX: $583
