Ok, so i'm feeling a little slow today, and maybe i just missed the post when i did a search, but I'm looking for the latest and greatest rule book so I can try and figure out what the lowest class my car best fits in, and then build it up to fit completely within that class without getting bumped up another class. I asked this question earlier in the year but I believe there was some confusion in what class I would fit in for sure.

For reference I have a '98 Lincoln Mark VIII with exhaust, 4.10:1 gears, 3400 stall torque converter, underdrive pullies, and I lowered it ~1.5" by adjusting the ride height sensors for the air ride.

Plans for winter (if i will be able to do this): Modified stock intake (will need some tuning after this is done), some chassis bracing (full length subframe connectors, front and rear shock tower braces, K-member and rear subframe bracing), stiffer swaybars, 17x8 wheels and street/track tires (most likely Kuhmo Ecsta MX's), convert to coilsprings using T-bird parts (Koni adjustable shocks and Eibach springs), and possibly some headers or other exhaust work to help optimize my car's current setup.

Thanks for all your help guys.

Your car would currently be in Street Modified, due to the rear-end change. You should be able to stay in that class, unless you get careless with mods.

Be VERY careful with chassis bracing upgrades. Unless you follow the rules carefully, you could easily move yourself all the way into C Prepared. Pay close attention to the chassis & subframe allowances & restrictions in the SCCA Street Modifed & Street Prepared class rules.

In general, I'd concerntrate on suspension & tires - upgrades in these areas will make FAR more difference for autocross than chassis bracing.

2006 Rules will not be available for a couple months. 2005 rules are available here: http://www.met-council.org/rules.html

Thanks a lot for the quick response. I hope those rules would get me close enough, but I won't actually be doing any work 'til spring. This will give me a bit of time to plan some more anyways. I'll find the diagram i used to have that shows the different chassis bracing i'm looking to do so I cna make sure I don't do anything that'll bump me out of the SM class.
