Hay all, John and Shawn are having a Daytona 500 party at their shop, Wardsports Automotive Repair. They are getting a couple big screens. They are providing beer and pop, bring something to share, and bring a chair. They have a great repair shop and they are about the most honest guys I know (except for what Shawn has under his hood that is). I even brought one of my pinball machines up there for a little competition. Even if you don't care much for Nascar (which I realy don't) this should be a good social event. And a good way to do a little arm chair racing before summer. There may also be some wagering I bet on the race. Check out their web site and click on the "Daytona 500" link for info. I bet Steve Mosely I can beat you on the Corvette pinball machine, hahahaha.

Bob,

I'm not the pinball wizard in the family, but I will play you. Bring lots
of money and the title to your car!!!

And since you are in law enforcement you might know something about permits required for events. Do you know what it would take to get a permit to use the All-Right Parking lot under the Lowry bridge in Saint Paul for an autocrossing event?

Thanks

You better bring the quarters, Steve. I have the key to the coin door so I don't need any, hahahahahaha.
The date for the Daytona is Feb. 16, Sunday. The link on their web site is a bit confusing because it shows the date the post was put up there. They are going to make a change to clear that up.
I don't know about special events permits but I'll try to track that down 2morrow when I go to work.

Another thing that we might need to find out is how the land is zoned. If it is zoned commerial or industrial might make a difference in getting a permit. My guess it would be zoned industrial since it is located next to a major rail way.

Hay Steve. I made some calls to some city offices yesterday. I don't think we need any type of permits whatsoever. It seems you need a permit if you do any vending or food sales, no problem there. You also need a permit if there are more than 5000 people, wish that was a problem, not. You also need a permit if you close any streets down. So there ya have it, all systems go, start your engines.
