The owner is willing, the paperwork has started, the heavy work is
scheduled. Lets have an event. There will be plenty of parking. We
will have enough room to have fun with cars.

Date: September 24, 2005
First timed runs: Noon
Registration Start: 9:30 (assuming that we have help)
Registration close: 11:00
Tech inspection: 10:00 - 11:15
Driver Meeting: 11:30
Last run will be about 5pm
BBQ/social: 6pm (earlier if cleanup goes quickly)

Help will be needed with:
Registration
timing and scoring
tech inspection (Eric Dahl has aggreed, but would like some help)
cone picking as always

We will have at least one gas grill on site for general use. If
someone wants to bring their own, it would be appreciated. We will
have a bonfire ready to go after the event.

Location:
About 30 miles east of the St.Croix river on Interstate 94.
At the Hammond WI exit go north on highway T (about 10 miles).
Right at "T" on highway 64.
Right at gate (less than 1/4 mile).
Back into the pine trees about 1/4 mile.
There will be signs on the day of the event.

If I can get my act together there will be a tulip diagram to the
site posted here before the event.

If you have questions or comments feel free to contact me.

Yeah, we have no pre-registration as of yet. We're not dealing with huge fields like the auto-x events (at least not yet) so we haven't had to set limits, yet we have a large enough core group that there are always enough competitors to run the event.

Oh, and we run no matter how icky the weather gets :) I've competed in near-blizzard conditions

I expect this Saturday to be a lot nicer than that, however.

There was a bit of an error in the directions that I posted earlier.
The mileage was from my house to the rallycross site. Oops. The real
directions are below.

First a reminder that we will be having a social get together after
the event. It looks like conditions will permit a bonfire and it may
be cool enough that we will need it when the sun goes down.

Don't forget to bring food. We will have at least on gas grill at the
site. If you have a favorite grill you want to bring along, feel free
to do so.

We will need people to help out with all of the normal duties to run
a rallycross. I might mention that the timing and scoring tent will
have a great elevated view of the course, so sign up early.

Directions Krampert's Pit

>From the Twin Cities:
Take Interstate 94 East into Wisconsin.

>From the "Welcome to Wisconsin" sign it is 16 miles to the Hammond
exit.

Go north on county road "T" through Hammond for 3.7 miles where "T"
turns off to the right.

You will travel north on "T" for 11.1 miles to the stop sign at the
intersection with highway 64. Turn right go 0.1 miles to the gate on
the right.

Follow the grassy two-track for 0.5 miles to the registration table.

If you are coming from north of the Twin Cities:
Krampert's pit is located 5 miles east of New Richmond on highway 64,
0.1 miles east of the intersection with "T".

Come on out to compete, to watch or to take photos.

The rain Wednesday night did not do the course any favors. When we started working on the site this evening parts of the pit looked pretty bleak.

Tom (the dozer guy) made some big improvements in the pit. An area that was not usable before is usable now. A bog that developed in the middle of the pit was improved, but not ready for prime time yet (a day or so of dry weather and some attention from Tom should do the trick).

Kraig (the mower guy) opened up a large area above the pit for the paddock area. The area is lumpy but drivable at low speeds. There is enough room to turn trucks around at the end of the paddock area.

As it stands tonight, we have enough space to run a limited course. With a little help from mother nature and Tom we will have enough space to have an interesting course, but still not up to the potential of site.

I will be out at the site tomorrow evening and will have an update late in the evening.
