I was wondering what class a 1991 Integra GS would be in if I was to drop a b16a2 engine in it? Could I still run stock class since this car was equiped with this engine in Japan's Xsi Integra? No other suspension work just the engine... I was talking to a few people and they said that I'd be bumped to Mod Class if I was to do a swap even though it actually comes in this car. But mine only came with a b18a engine...
Thanks.

Prepared
If you want to do it, do it. Autocrossing is about fun not classes.
Classes are a joke at the local level. There are the exceptions to this.
If you look at the times locally the fastest cars are in stock or street
prepared. I hope to see you with the b16 this spring.
BTW: I know of a fast DSP '97 Integra GSR if you know anyone
that wants one.

From the 2002 rules, section 8.3.1.b, you can swap any motor from the same mfg, as long as it has same # of cyl's. A V6 swap would not only make you nose heavy, would put you in modified.
That said, just decide whats important to you. Winning at all costs = read the rules and build accordingly. Having fun, going fast, spinning wrenchs, = go for what feels good, and don't be dis-appointed if you end up in a class with other cars further developed for auto-x, while yours is brimming with "potential".
Case in point: Brandon's Syclone. Who knows what that will end up to be when he/we are done with it. He wants to build a "Frankentruck", and darn well is going to, no matter what the rules say. I want to develop the 914 to the limit of the rules for the class I choose to be in. I hope to be somewhere between winning at all costs and still having fun, going fast, spinning wrenchs...

Sorry if I was not clear- If you swap a 4cyl for another 4cyl of the same mfg, prepaired. If you swap to another motor of less than, or more than 4 cyl, modified. If you swap to another 4cyl of a different mfg, not sure. Its all in the rules, but sometimes takes a several readings to find your answer. Good Luck and have fun with the swap!!!

Is the engine you want to swap in sold in the United States or is it JDM only? It makes a difference as far as the rules go...
