Basing this comment on many comments from new people who have contacted me in the past few weeks:

Please put a big button on the home page that says "Join MAC Now" and links to a membership form. I am talking to people who are having a hard time finding the membership form. Let's make this the easiest thing to do on the site!

Double that! The website is often the only face people see. (just find a slightly mellower color pallette. ) ;) ;)
