Rock Falls is having a Sport Compact day on Saturday. It's $37

I've never done a drag race before but I figured I might as well try it out. Is anyone else going to try this out?
Here's the thread on Volksport

I can hardly stand the wait for my Dub to accelerate to the next autocross corner...can't see doing it when there *is* no corner coming up. I could get some reading done though. :) Have fun!

I did it once last year. It was kinda fun having the guy in a lane next to you. Similar rush to autocrossing and it does take skill and practice to launch properly.
I will be doing it again this summer with the kids (but not this weekend). I want to make sure we find a bunch of different things to do together (car related, of course).
Expect a lot of Civics and Integras with crazy mods. There are also some who have a lot of money into their rides in the low 13's. You can usually get about six to eight runs in by about three in the afternoon.
Son's Jon & Rick ran their Saturns. Jon did a flat 15, and Rick a 15.7.
Not bad for stock cars.
Ma and I watched.
It's OK, probably better to run than watch though.
Someday Ma will have to run her Miata, and me the 'B'

My brother did it once with his bitch'n camaro.
I have done it the last 2 years at BIR after COM's low speed event. I'm hoping to line up with the Maloney's Mustang and see what that bad boy has got. (I'm screwed)

i like my clutch.
And I can "drag race" going onto an onramp on the freeway for free.
So I avoid drag races. awd cars + drag racing is putting a square peg in a round hole anyways.

Also, is it just me, I mean I've never been to the volksport forums before clicking those links, but a lot of those guys came off as pretty arrogant about other people's cars in some of those threads.

It is all fun and games until you get beat by Paul Smith in his Dodge Caravan.

Even so the Z06's are the ones that get me. You can pull a C5 Z06 off the showroom floor and run sub 13's in the 1/4 and then pull it on the track at BIR and run mid to low 1:50's out of the box on VF type day with a rookie lapping the big track. All well driving in comfort. It is just not fair. :(
