Hey guys/girls,
Me and Salah talked at Mowog 7 and we came up with the idea keeping the skills and spirit through the long MN winters. The answer is GO-KARTS!!! What we are suggesting is to create a championship be meeting once or twice a month at Thunder Valley and reserve the place for a private party. Collective points for a winning will make it competitive for the champoinship reward( whatever that would be). Depending on the amount of people willing to go have fun we can even create teams competing with each or otherwise one person competing for himself. Maybe someone can even come up with some kind of throphys or rewards for the winners. IT WILL BE FUN!! I just wanted to hear everyones opinion, suggestions, and estimate of how many people are willing to participate...?
Lets make it HAPPEN!!
Rado
thats a fun idea
make it a once a month series
and run PRO KART south
PROKART north
and THUNDERALLEY
that way, no one can practice that easily
and variety is fun
the biggest hurdle will be for someone to schedule these and collect money in advance!
good luck

Well, ProKart does leagues, both single site, and alternating site. They track times and points, and the whole deal. Anybody can organize a league:

Hey great idea folk's.
Why not come to this months meeting and we can get it done.
BTW who is going to help me get in and out of those things?

Dwight,
Getting in shouldn't be a problem, gravity helps :)
As for getting out, maybe have Brian rig a special seat cushion with a quick release spring in it to push you out when you're done, and have him make one for me too:p

If some of you guys are too big to fit into the cart then how will you compete against flyweights like Chuck. Maybe we can arrange for Chuck and Adam to sit in one cart. Either that or we are gonna need a couple hundred pounds of BALLAST to equalize things!;) ;)

I don't think that its a weight issue Salah. I think its the dirt factor. Like dirt it doesn't move unless something else exerts a force and like dirt there isn't many things older.

That sounds like a fun idea. Let us know what you guys come up with as far as plans go. I will be more than happy to come and "watch" like always:D

Guys, it IS true that cart performance (lap times) is HEAVILY influenced by POWER TO WEIGHT RATIO. Just having a 120 lb. highschool punk out accelerate away from you out of a corner and he cant take the corners worth a damn but you STILL cant beat him because of your "disadvantage"...You weigh some NORMAL poundage! Its not humbling...it just pisses you off! Lets talk about EQUAL WEIGHT machines (yup... BALLAST) and I'll be interested! D.

Maybe we should have "Add On Time" on Lap times for the lightweight people?
In example:
250-300 Pounder: 0 Second "Add On Time"
200-250 Pounder: 1 Second "Add On Time"
150-200 Pounder: 2 Second "Add On Time"
100-150 Pounder: 3 Second "Add On Time"
50-100 Pounder: Sit and eat something because you're too skinny:D J/K
Anyways, if we have something like that to even out the fields, then it would be much more competitive and fair for people of all shape and sizes. Best lap times gets the most points, and so on! Anyone see where I am getting at here or are you all totally lost? Well, thats my idea......talk amongst yourselves:)
10 TO 20 LBS DOESN'T MAKE TOO MUCH DIFF,BUT ANYTHING MORE SURE CAN!
BUT,ON ANY GIVE NIGHT,WHICH KART YOU GET HAS ALOT TO DO WITH YOUR SPEED ALSO,THEY VARY QUITE A BIT.
BUT THEN AGAIN ISN'T THIS "JUST FOR FUN"
(YEH RIGHT)
IMPOSING PENALTIES WILL GUARANTEEEEEE,NO ONE WILL BE HAPPY
I'LL BE THERE THOUGH !! 185LB RANDY

i am also interested. i agree that money up front is a good idea. i don't like salah's idea of having adam and i sit in the same cart- that's just wrong.
however, i'm fine with some sort of ballast equalization, even though as rdub says, each cart is different. i've been out there a few times and the autox experience helps make me above average in a cart, but certainly no ace. adam promptly wooped me the first time he got in a cart.

Ya...I'd like SOME kind of handicap to equalize things. Either time OR ballast. But think about this for a "Time Handicap" situation. That same skinny punk can STILL leave you on the straights so you'll never be able to pass in the turns unless you punt him into the Coke machine. Also, I would think with all the business the cart tracks do here, that they could estimate either how much TIME or how much WEIGHT it takes to equalize things. But just for FUN...I don't think so...I'm starting my upper body and neck strength training tonight and filling that squirt gun with Formula V compound for MY tires....I'm bringing my own quart of Red Line 0W-30....and I'm gonna slip the track workers an extra $20 for the best kart....and.....I gotta take a nap.

Handicap suggestions:
Under 225, one hand behind back.
Under 200, one hand behind back, one eye patch.
Under 175, one hand behind back, one eye patch, one balaclava that has been worn for the previous 5 8 minute sessions by extremely sweaty drivers...
Under 150, both hands behind back, one eye patch, one balaclava that has been worn for the previous 5 8 minute sessions by extremely sweaty drivers and the cart with the brakes that stick and don't release completely.
Sounds fair to me, gee I don't get any handicaps :p :p :p
