I'm looking in to buying a new or lightly used helmet. The one that i am looking at is a new MX style helmet. It has a Snell and DOT approved lable on it but it doesn't give a rating number. I know i need a Snell rating of 95 or higher. How do i find it?

Thanks

Look inside the helmet. The sticker on the outside is made by the helmet manufacturer for advertising purposes. The fabric label inside the helmet is sold to the helmet manufacturer by the Snell Foundation. They can be very difficult to find. You may have to peel back padding inside to find the label. It will have the standard type (K, M, SA) and year (Currently 95 or 2000).

Here's a Snell web page, with pictures of the official stickers and a list of certified helmets.
