The BMW Club is having schools at DCTC (remember all of the fun we had there?) just before the start of the autocross season. Both schools involve time in the car & the classroom, and another great way to become a better autocrosser. If you would, please promote the following to the autocrossers (none of the dates conflict with the MAC schedule):
NORTH STAR CHAPTER BMW CCA
Saturday, April 9th (9-4:30), we have a Car Control Clinic for $50 (membership not required) that can handle nearly unlimited students. Exercises include threshold braking, slalom, the turn-in/apex/track-out of corners, wet-skidpad, and culminating in an autocross course finale.
Sunday, April 10th (8-5:30), we have an Advanced Car Control Clinic that sets up a 1-mile road course (that is like a long autocross course) with in-car instruction. The price is $100 for members or $140 for non-members (become members) and lunch is included. Limit 32 students. After 40 minutes of morning exercises, students get ~15 runs driving (reverse course mid-day for more variety) + 8 laps "teaching by example" riding with their instructor = lots of seat time!
For autocrossers interested in attending our Advanced Driving School at Brainerd International Raceway (BIR) May 14-15th, we are having Ross Bentley conducting classroom! He is a GT Champion, Indy Racer, and author of the three Speed Secrets books. Snell 95 or newer helmet required and must be 18. Complimentary Tech Inspection April 14th (no convertibles) and BMW Club discount at Ramada (or camp at the track). The price is $300 for members, $340 for non-members (become members).
Also, we have a Women's Drivers Training school at BIR on Friday, May 13th. A school for women-only sponsored by the BMW, Audi, & Porsche Clubs. Loaner helmets c/o Audi Club. Complimentary Tech Inspection April 14th (no convertibles) and BMW Club discount at Ramada. Price is $125 and must be 18, but membership not required. Limit 24 students.
