It doesn't show the tread wear rating or even the tread pattern, but I'm wondering if these will be the new "it" tires.

It looks like tire choices in STS/STX next year will be wide open. Although the new Azenis comes in some good sizes for certain cars in STS (225/50-15 in particular), it's sorely lacking in good STX sizes. I expect top STX cars will be trying lots of different tires out in '05.

I can order you up Kumho Exsta MX tires from the Tire Rack. I suggest you take a look at how good these tires are.

Yep good tires - available in some sizes not offered by Falken. Like 245/40-17.

p.s. Dwight, I'll be hitting you up for a couple sets of tires come Spring. :)

I'm suprised they didn't go with a 245/40R17. I would think this would be a fairly popular size for Evo's and Sti's since it would wider and a little shorter. I might have to go this route and skip the race rubber.

The 215/40R17 are what I run up front currently, but the 255/40R17 might be a little to big for my 17x8 rims.

Hmm.. Yummy... My T1-S is due for replacement (if i can spin it in 3rd gear that means it's toast) and i am looking at the Azenis next year. And if i do i'm surely gonna pay you guys a visit in MOWOG.

Wow, I ordered 875 sets this morning!:p

I did buy mine from Vulcan tire last year, they did have the best price, better than the group buy from the guy in Milwaukee.

If Dwight can get then, better yet!

Fat chance....
For some reason, Falken and TireRack don't seem to like each other.

I read something about the SCCA having an April deadline on new tires being "approved" or something. Is this correct, will the new tire have legality issues if its not released by then?

The SCCA rules do include a requirement that tires be generally available by April 30th to be eligible for competition. For Stock classes, there is also a requirement that at least 4 rim diameters and 6 sizes be available. This requirements is waived for ST, but a tire vendor must still be shipping at least one size by April 30th.

Actually, I think this is a good rule. It makes tire selection easier & less expensive for those of us with limited budgets, who can't afford to test every new tire that comes out.

Looks like an online vendor has just placed an order on these and expects them this month. Not sure if there'll be enough to meet 4 rim size req. but I should be ok in STX. Can't wait to see how much faster I can go on these compared to the Ecsta 712s I had.

..or even the old Falkens. The new sizes suck big-time. NO 225's in 14" or 15"? Guess I'll be getting something else for the white beast to use on the street.

I've been told the 225/50-15's aren't going to happen - at least this Spring. This status could change, but the fact that this size isn't even listed on the Falken website anymore is a bad sign....

I've been hearing mixed things, so can someone clear this up: Are they going to kill off the RT-215?
Nowhere on the net i've been has a straight answer.

everything I've seen says "definitely yes"

The level to which Falken raised the price of those things starts to make the old Toyo RA-1 start to look appealing. I'd even say the victoracer, but they could be a little scary if you got caught in the rain.

I love my azenis'

But at that price, I'm looking at kumhos for my next set. Sheesh, that's too much of a price increase, especially since they won't let me buy the old ones anymore.

Wow, I had already decided to not get Azenis for my next set of tires (now that I have race tires), because of the noise and the weight. But, this seals it for sure.

Yeah, I decided to get some Yokohama ES-100's on my street wheels for the Miata. 225/50-15's were <$80 each from Dwight.
