OK, so Jonathan Grothe wants to do a fun rally/color tour.
Now he said he would post this. But I guess I beat him to the punch.
We don't have much time. It doesn't need insurance, except what you have on your own car.
It will have to be yet this month.
It doesn't need a sanction, just show up.
What date Jonathan?
Where, what time, where do we eat????

If it is a road rally then yes you will need someone to navigate ;)

Next Sunday would be great. Colors should be at their peak around here and it doesn't conflict with VSCR's final day at St. Cloud.

Jonathan? Oh Jonathan?
Where are you?

Ok since MAC's middle name is Autosports (not autocross).
How about something a little different.

I have set up a Road Rally for all those interested.
This is a FUN rally (not tricky directions to get you lost).
You will be easily able to follow the route.
The "challenge" is to answer a series of questions by spotting things
along the way.
You do not have to answer the questions, so you can just drive and
enjoy the colors.

This is a drive on public, paved roads at posted speed limits.
The route follows great driving roads (curves).
There should be peak fall color.
This is a two stage rally (reststop break between)
Each stage is approximately 30 miles (45 - 60 min)
The total rally will take approximately 3 hours.

What to bring:
Yourself
Car with full tank of gas
Navigator (spouse or friend)
Clipboard or some hard surface to write on
Pencil or pen
NO COST FOR RALLY (but we will most likely get together at a
restaurant after for "bench rallying")

Where:
We will meet in corner of the NorthEast parking lot at
Ridgedale Shopping Center. (Ridgedale Drive and I-394)

When:
Sunday Afternoon October 17, 2004 (see below)
Show up for "registration" between 12:30 & 1:00 pm.
There will be a drivers/navigators meeting at 1:00 pm
(route books will be distributed)
The cars will be sent out 1 minute apart at 1:10 pm

Date:
Please post your interest.
If there is limited responce for the 17th I will
rescedule to Sunday October 24, 2004 (same times)

I will be checking this post for responces, so please post.
I would like to get an idea of how many route books to print.

Thanks Jonathan

I'm up for this. Have to check and see if my "driver" will be in town (she owns all the sports cars!).

This is great DCM, last week the Scooby guys from MNsubaru.com did our second annual Fall Colors tour, and this week we are doing another. Our tours consist of simular routes as your, except we have been going to WI. :D I'll inform the guys of this rally event.

I'll be there. There will be two other folks from the NorthStar Rotary Rockets joining us too.

Well now, let's see.
We had 9 cars, with 18 participants. That's a driver and co-driver. The weather was OK. We had a good time. No one got majorly lost. And a fine time at the Hazelwood & Tap.
Thanks to all who did particiapate, and to Jonathan Grothe for organizing it.
Let's hope this is the first of many.
