Below are some links to the event. Check them out if interested. Also I plan on driving down on highway 61 along the Mississippi River, if anyone else is interested let me know and maybe we can caravan down.

Wow Alex. Sounds like a fun trip. I was in Seattle last week. If it doesn't rain
it should be fun. Talk to the guy from Canada in the 93 MR2 for me. I'm curous about his setup is for SM2.

Have fun!!!

Uhhh, didja all know, that Nordstern [PCA] is having an event at St Cloud on the 25th?
It's also a met. Council,event.
They are going to use much of the road course I've heard.
That's where I'll be, well if I get the brakes back together on the 'B'.

I'm definitely in to caravan to la crosse. I have to perform at 2am the night before though, so i may be a bit groggy at the race.

I'm game for the caravan.

We could meet on highway 52 at the 42 exit on the west side of 52. It is about 2 hours and 15 minutes from that point. If we left this area at 6:45am to 7am we will have plenty of time. If we get there before 9:30am we should be fine if you are not changing tires and cutting it close if you do.

I have 3 routes we could take.
-fast
-fun
-scenic

The last 2 add about 15-30 minutes. I'm leaning towards the fun route since it is nearly as fun as autocrossing itself even at safe speeds. Otherwise the fast route we could meet up with people in Rochester. Let me know.

As for the PCA event, That sucks that it is on the same weekend, but I like the La Crosse sport car club events the best. Where else can you drive on a steeply banked oval and take your friends with?

It's September 5th, Phil. I don't know why it's not on the calendar on our site. It is on the LOL site.

I remember a PCA event I attended at DCTC. They're concept of an autocross was a bit more brisk than the traditional solo2. That's tempting.

God I miss DCTC. Thinking about it makes me think that we need to find a good site
like that again.

Is this gonna spark Dwight to outwardly ponder the possibility of a new facility being built specifically for Minnesota auto enthusiasts again? :dancin:

I figure, if someone could get something built on some farm, maybe 45 minutes away from the Twin Cities, they could pull in a cool $100k / year. I'm sure this would pay for itself fairly quickly.

I'll look into it. :D

'I have a dream'
Our own place, where nobody could every take it away from us, where all little boy's and girls will play together in harmony. Where you would not be judged by your cars color, polish or fancy wheels. But by the times you turn in.

YES!

That's what I was looking for! :D

Would a giant parking lot be something that would work, or is there too many clubs that want the road course as well?

I miss the days of lots of real autocross lots. Thinking about it makes me hope we don't get saddled with a crappy site like DCTC again. Thinking about it makes me think that we need to find a good site like Canterbury Park or MANG again. Or at least a large selection of sites almost as good.

Do you really dream of only driving your car on parking lots and air fields? I dream of places that have hills, banking, and straight aways. If it was realistic perfect world we could be running an event at Cantebury one weekend, VF the next, followed by DCTC, and MANG.
that can't you.

>Do you really dream of only driving your car on parking lots and air fields?

Yes.

Well, not really. I like the Healey hillclimbs, but I don't think they should be part of an autocross series.

>I dream of places that have hills, banking, and straight aways.

Go racing. :-)

No, seriously, open-track events have their place, some people do them all the time and have no interest in autocross. That's fine.

I am primarily interested in autocross. DCTC and Saint Cloud are not good places for autocross in the strictest sense of the word. The Solo2 Nationals are not held in a place like that. A national-level event held on such a course would be a Solo1.

>If it was realistic perfect world we could be running an event at Canterbury one weekend, VF the next, followed by DCTC, and MANG.

Three out of four ain't bad.

I have run lots of events on roadways, man and boy. Kart tracks in Hastings and in the woods outside Forest Lake. BIR when it was called Donnybrooke. Wakanda Park. Now Saint Cloud. Most were of these events were fun. None of them were as safe as a proper lot with runoff space on the same surface as the course. DCTC was "any port in a storm" for MAC, not a site to aspire to.
