On the 27th of this month we will have the first CVSCC event of the season. It will be on the "small" lot, outside town just a bit, but still a great venue, and great fun. Go to MAE to sign up. Watch for worker sign up coming soon as well.
Following the event we will be having the now traditional BBQ on our deck in lovely and relaxing Rice Lake, WI.
Here's how it goes: everyone goes to CVSCC and has a great time. Maps are provided, or you can google earth up our address, or just plug it into your GPS or smartphone. You show at our place after the event. Nancy and I buy all the food and drink, we fire up the grill, and you all eat and drink till you are full. During the BBQ we sell raffle tickets. You have to buy at least one. $5 gets you one ticket, $10 gets you 3. If you want to buy $15 or $20 bucks worth, so much the better. If anyone just wants to toss a $50 or $100 in the money bag, WOW, that would be great! When things start winding down, we'll draw for amazing and fun prizes. And all the money you spend on tickets, 100%, goes to the Paul fund, to help pay for next seasons RoadSkills teen driving school.
Is Rice Lake on the way home for ANY of you- probably not. But there are some fun and scenic roads to take you back to the big city. Its alot of fun and for a good cause. We have a large living/dining area, and large basement should weather be a problem. RSVP to this thread so we have a general idea of how many to plan for, but all are welcome, RSVP or not.
If you want to check mileage or routes to and from our place, the address is: 335 Hilltop Drive, Rice Lake, WI.

Don't forget that the Intermediate School is on Saturday. This is the only non-novice school MAC has this year, since we don't have a site big enough to support a SoloPro school. There are still openings...sign up, y'all!
I may have about a hundred autocross runs under my belt already this year (probably pushing 3x that as a passenger!), but at this point I'm really looking forward to driving my own car on Sunday for a change. :D

Some incredibly-incompetent civilian backed her minivan up the nose of the Exige. No chassis damage, and her insurance seems to be taking care of it. We are all pulling for a first-class repair job.

Rule #1 in Elise/Exige ownership: NEVER parallel park. People park by braille thinking "that's what bumpers are for." Instant $10k for a bodyshop.

Yes x 4. Everyone is welcome- you don't have to have driven in the event to sit down at the table.

It's back..... The Exige looks just like it came off the showroom floor. Be a shame to hit a cone with it.... Guess I'll have to extra careful.
One for sure at the table. Not sure if my wife can make it though.

So far the list of the chosen few would be:
Phil
Alan
Eric A. +2 (maybe +1 more? dad?)
Lee
Steve G.
Rex Jr
Larry B. +1
Clark
John G.
Andres
Chris +3
Jody
and now 4 more:
Shane
Steve B.
Jay McK
Dave K
For a total of 22, plus who ever else decides to show up. I know Pat threatened to stop by again, if he does, lets hope he brings some more of that tasty Red Eye. I see a few other mac'rs signed up for the event but not for the grub:
Hey! Larry S, Dave K, Steve B, and Mark Y, (and anyone else I missed off the MAE sign up) how come you guys no coming to my place for food, drink, silly prizes, and a chance to mock me in person in the presence of my not yet running but soon to be roaring 914?

I attract rain, apparently. The drive in tonight (Friday) from Pepin (where) the Midwest Sevens folks had dinner) was a bit wet. I had it easy. Most of them were in topless Sevens and needed to get back their hotel in Wabasha. Ed Young drove up from Quad Cities, but he has an Esprit. There were ten Sevens at dinner. Since I was planing on leaving Pepin for Eau Claire, I already had my Seven in the trailer.
The afternoon blat was fun. I got to Buena Vista park (aptly named, as a short walk brings you to the top of a cliff above Alma with a splendid view) before the Sevens arrived from the morning blat. Brenda put on a nice lunch.
We had 8 sevens (the other two arrived in time for dinner). I was the only one who was packing a top, so when it started to sprinkle, I figured it would not be sporting to put my top on. No matter. We never really got wet because we kept moving. We did get on one road that had clearly had more rain than we encountered. Brent lead the pack. He and #2 set a brisk-but-sane pace which I had no trouble matching with the tractor tires. The rest of the gang were more contemplative. No problem. We stopped at action points so everybody caught up and nobody got lost.
They have tow more days of fun down there, but I have events in Eau Claire. I wish them well. Pix soon.

CheddaReview: the sun was out, a cool breeze across the deck and down the hill, between the trees and deck umbrella, nice shade. The beer and pops were cold, the burgers and brats hot. I lost count, but between RSVP's and walk on's, I think we had around 20 people. Erics dad Tom, Matt, and Steve B were the big winners in the Paul school/RoadSkills raffle, this years goodie bags containing a car oriented DVD, some super wheel cleaner, (we ARE car guys/gals, after all), a microfiber cloth for cleaning, and some of those stylish pine trees to hand from your mirror. Best to remove those before tech. Oh, and we raised $140 for the school, this is BEFORE the payout from the buck runs today from the CVSCC event. Thanks to everyone who made the trip north, there was plenty of food and fun to go around. The last cars left rice lake at around 10:30pm for the trip back to MN. As I haven't gotten any calls for road side assistance or directions, I expect everyone made it home OK with out ending up in Iowa, Duluth, and no deer/bear hits.

What an excellent way to cap a day of autox. I've never been to one of these shindigs before last night, but I'll definitely go again. Great food, great friends, great converstion... Big thanks out to Dave and Nancy for hosting this post-event event and making it something to truly look forward to!

Indeed. A big thanks to Dave and Nancy for all the hospitality. You've got a great view from your place and it was nice to unwind in the shade with everybody. Well worth the trip north and the extra time to get home. Can't say I minded a little more driving either; the weather was great for it and highway 8 was devoid of errant wildlife on my trip back to the cities.
And it was cool to see the 914. I hope that spinning the Birkin wasn't so much fun that you'll give up on fixing the Porsche. :p

Sorry to miss it. Weather at home caused neighbor's mid-retaining-wall-project to allow an ocean of dirty water to flow into the shop and through the garden shed. Good job the new folks there are friendly and responsible. While I should have been chewing the fat (literally and figuratively) in Rice Lake, I was taking down a fence panel to that the neighbor guy can spend today removing dirt and screening my river rock to restore my drainage setup.
We didn't have any tree losses or anything. I still need to inspect the Saturn for hail damage. My other neighbor was not so lucky. He was camping and his Honda coupe got the back window shattered, the windshield cracked and both the decklids and roof hammered by egg-sized hail.

Great Event!
Thanks Dave and Nancy for another cheesy fest. I managed to escape the land of mozzarella without incident (crossing the line forward instead of the other way around--as earlier in the day).
A wonderful day.
