So, what did you guys make of it ? I think it was a bit of a parade again. Once more, Bernie/FIA seem to have found a way of failing miserably to increase overtaking opportunities :(
Oh, and if you're trying to help teams bring their budgets down, why would you *add* more races to the calendar ? Let's trim it back down to 12, with a few carefully selected ones that will run every year, and put the other circuits on a 2-3 year rotation.
Stuart.

I would argue that part of the problem is the tracks themselves. Tilke designs a beautiful, technical track, but he seemingly doesn't design them with overtaking in mind so there are no places where a driver can get by.

I found the race to be kind of boring, much like most of the races last year. I watched a copy of the BBC coverage and I don't think there was a single shot of the crowd. Made it feel like they were racing with no one there.

That's not too far from the truth.

Bernie seems to be convinced the series needs a race everywhere someone is willing to make a track even if the fan support isn't there, and if the city isn't willing to drop the money they leave like they did last year in Montreal. On another note, since the Canada race is back on the schedule I'm seriously considering taking the trip to see the race. Cheapest and best chance to see the series this close, though I would like to make it to Silverstone.

Tires need to wear out faster. Yo would have seen a no stop race if they didn't mandate the compound change during the race. Hey....140 rates tires for F1!

So boring. One lead change the entire race and it was due to a mechanical. I can barely even remember any passes between the back runners either. Nothing beats the start of a F1 race for excitement, including the rest of the race...I can't remember the last time there was a meaningful lead change near the end of the race that wasn't the result of a mechanical or pit stop.
They really need to do something, everything they've tried over the last couple of years has only seemed to make the races even more dull. I personally feel that if the teams are as resistant to change as they were at the end of last season that they're going to destroy the series themselves. I'm really going to think twice before deciding to get up early to watch the next race, or just turn it off after the start.

Then they could drive to events!
They all seemed like they were content to just drive around and finish the race
Schumacher's quote "I was happy to finish 6th"!!!!! Wtf

I said this in the seventies and it may still hold up: The world drivers championship should be decided in Formula Fords at Blackhawk.

I think this has more to do with lining his pockets than anything else.

Actual competitive passing is so rare you have to find the kind of interest you might have in an autocross. Qualification is the real autocross. The race is just to see who can keep it going for an hour and a half. The winner is the one with the better set up car and better drive on that day. A lot like autocross. With a TV audience of 600 million. Not at all like autocross.
