Yes, you need snows. You should have had them for the last two months!
Matt Marks has a set of my throw-away 16" blizzaks lying around that he could donate to you. They're 205 and 225. If you can fit S2000 wheels, he has a few of those lying around, too.

How bad does this beat up your car? I've wanted to run one with my miata, but I don't want to trash it.

I'd have to say it greatly depends on how you drive. I did a school in December and there is potential to mash your car just like at an auto-x, but your suspension is going to get a serious workout compared to auto-x. As far as whether or not that means that you are wearing them out, well I don't have any evidence of that, but it would make sense.

bahhh! I got almost two seasons on the g/f's stock daily driver....we have always driven it to and from every event. Now that being said, the car did recieve new ball joints & tie rod ends before last year...contrary to that we started rally-xing her car w/ 165k miles on it and far as we could tell the struts, ball joints, tie rod ends, and control arms were all original.
Since this/these are typically fields/gravel most ppl are more worried about gravel damage and the rare rock against the undercarriage. People w/ aluminum oil pans who are lowered should have skid plates. In fact the majority of ppl who show up are in pretty subies that appear to still have factory warranties on them!
fyi...there was one miata that showed up last year to many events...now much for RWD's out there.

Like mentioned before, suspension will get a work out. Being a Miata you will NEED winter tires at this event, during the summer events there are times that all seasons will out perform winter tires but this is not true on the 7th of march in a farm field. O yeah, there is a chance your car will get horrendously dirty if it is well above freezing.
sign up come out and have a awesome time.

Yea, got an email from him earlier. I already bought the tires and they are 17". Thanks for the offer!! As Josh said, I should had them on last 2 months ;)

Jocelin saw this and she wants to come play. She has to check her work schedule. Does anyone know if the field's owner still has that subi for sale? :)

meh - rallycross is just meant for AWD or RWD hoonage. FWD in the dirt is just too disappointing.

FYI... for the Miata, you'll need a hard top. No soft top convertibles are allowed to RallyCross.
FWD in the dirt can be VERY fun! LFBing for the win!
I'm going in my stock motor/diff GTI rallycar in the works.

Sooooo... why would this be a bad idea in my 2008 MINI Cooper S, with OEM 17" no-season run-craps? besides my OCD kicking in about getting really wicked dirty... given the weather is going to be warm, correct? That and it sounds a little scary for a n00b... maybe I'll just come watch? Maybe I'll wait see if Bob's gets my new snell M lid in by Sunday, letting the universe decided and all that?

go have fun Tina. Not sure I would take the MINI out there, but you should have plenty of ground clearance. But then my OCD is driving the car on gravel/dirt not getting it dirty. A trip to my Mom's puts me in a panic.
A few of us autocross-types are going to be there. You could always ride along with someone to see what you think... It's going to be muddy if it rains the day before...
LOL you auto x type worried about getting the street cars dirty.
a Mini would work fine. Winter tires are recommended for this event. there are a few FWD's registered already there should be a handle in between the front seats, feel free to use that and your left foot to initiate turn in in snow and mud.
I will update this thread if the start time is moved up one hour. this is a possibility because of the warm temp's forecasted on sunday and the course falling apart in regards to the temps.
and there are going to be many folks out there with factory warranties remaining...dont let the age of your car worry you. everyone's doing it.
Didn't you take bumper damage at the Rallycross school? :?
For me, I'm not dainty. But cleaning out crap from the wheels afterwards to prevent highway vibration... not worth it in the cold for me.
Didn't you take bumper damage at the Rallycross school? :?
2 of my zipties broke on my pre-existing broken bumper...
Looking forward to sunday, should be a blast

I gotta disagree w/ you....the golf spends more time sideways that it does going straight! I don't want to sound egotistical, but typically the stock golf and I usually finish in the top 5.....which pisses of many Subie owners! :D

I didn't say they weren't good or fast, just that I don't care for them.
That said, IT IS ON!!! I will put up my friends bone-stock Subie slushbox against your "wish I was still a Rabbit" anyday - I own that beanfield!

Anna kicked my butt. The course was tough and very unpredictable, but we had tons of fun. Big thank you to Charles who quickly tow us out of trouble, you're the man!!
We found a flat tire on our way home, had to pull out to change. We could not drive more than 60mph due to the bad vibration from the wheels. A red subaru passed us by and got pull over by a traffic officer, ouch!
Just went to a manual car wash to clear all the crazy mud on our car. It gets tons of attention, people asked us a lot of questions.. hehe!

I took the win for PA and fourth overall, it was a seriously good time. I can't wait for their next event in April. It took me 3 car washes to get rid of all the vibration due to mud on the wheels!
At first I was bummed about only getting four runs in, but by the end I didn't want to run any more, I thought my car had taken enough of a beating already!
Awesome drive Charles, setting a fast time for me to chase after! :rockon
We found a flat tire on our way home.
So that's what happened! I saw you guys by the side of the road and was going to stop, but then I thought you might be taking off your muddy clothes and I didn't really want to see that. :p Glad you got home okay!
saw aaron on the side of 494 as well, we were in the far left and could not stop and see if you had everything you needed. im sure you figured it out.
Thanks to everyone coming out to the Rally cross.
looking forward to next month.

Yeah....I got bit by the scoring method....at the end of the 1st run set I was 3rd overal...and in the 2nd run set i stuffed in the snow bank TWICE (stupid down hill section going into a 180 turn on ice...)....even though I was able to back out, my runs were still crap. Rally-x we add the runs together dropping the worst...so one awesome run plus one fubared run equal crap.
We got a flat on the way home on 494....changing it along the highway sucks!
I got some in car video that isn't very good....I'll try and post it later.
$6 in quarters to wash the car and a bunch of crazy giggling!!
April 4th we will be at RaceWay Park in shakopee....

Anyway, I just got my tire fixed from a local goodyear store for $30. I thought that was a bit high, but oh well.
