That should be interesting. Wonder how many "road course ringers" they'll bring in like they did when NASCAR did Riverside years ago. Bubba figgers turning raght aint natural.

cool... might actually be able to see one. Nascar + rain + right turns + racing = hilarity!

The Nationwide Series (formerly Busch Series) should be fun to watch at Road America. RA is only about two hours from Roscoe, Illinois plus it's a road course, so I have to think that barring a schedule conflict Danica Patrick should be there, with a much better than usual chance for success in her first limited season with NASCAR (note: good sense had her announce last week she was skipping her possible debut in the Nationwide race at Daytona). Look for that to be the big story for the race. Also the prospect of adding a Grand-Am Series event at Road America to the weekend is exciting.
Who else was at the USAC Weekend in BIR's (Donneybrooke back then) second year, 1969? At that time they ran USAC Stock Cars Saturday and Champ cars Sunday. USAC Stock Cars had the same bodies that NASCAR was running at that time--mostly full size 2-door sedans, with a handfull of bigger "mid-size" cars. A full field of '68 and '69 Ford Torinos, Plymouth Satellites and their Dodge equivalent, Chevrolet Impalas and Chevelles (sorry, no Camrys back then) coming down the main straight two wide, heading for Turn Three, really filled the track and made for some dramatic racing.

I don't remember why just now, but I missed the Saturday action and arrived Sunday morning for the Champ cars. I still have the USAC patch they gave each worker. We broke a hell of a lot of USAC traditions. Drove them crazy.

Not sure it's a rodeo...
Great for RA, bad for the Milwaukee mile...
Weekend SCCA event in Milwaukee that weekend...
