Starting an event thread:

I'll keep these basics updated once we get enough input and make a final decision:
Who: Anyone and everyone... its a public bar
What: Pub Crawl with good drinks and bar food
When: Saturday Nov 14th, 5-5:30pm
Where: Downtown at Town Hall Brewery, The Corner Bar, Bullwinkles, Maxwells, Grumpy's and maybe Sgt. Prestons.
Why: Why not?

Parking: There's parking right next to the holiday in. It is a pay garage, and right next to Town Hall Brewery. If you are drinking, please be smart (taxi, find a place to crash local, etc)
There are also Light Rail stops within a couple blocks of Grumpy's

Accommodations: Josh mentioned that aLoft has really good rates for anyone who is a "friend". It is just a stone throw from Grumpy's so no driving would be needed the night of the Pub Crawl.

If there are any more bars around the 7 corners area please list them so we can possibly hit those up too.

if your thinking about getting a hotel room down there.. i'd probably be up for that.. seriously, cab home from downtown to the suburbs equals about half a hotel room...

unless you wanna split the cab ride, and crash on my couch...

It even has a wheelchair lift for those we can't shove up the stairs.

I can "sobercab" in my Bronco if needed. If we need more seating than the 3-4 I can load in there (five if I put one in the "wayback" until johnny law finds you), maybe I can borrow or rent something larger.

Now that Curt is married or something and the Tracy's thing has fallen by the wayside, I'm glad to see this happening.

Just an FYI, the bar to bar stuff will be all walking since they are all very close. Vehicular transportation would only be necessary to get there and leave at the end of the night.

If anyone wants to stay at the aLoft hotel, you just have to ask for the 'CONDO' rate of $89/night. I have taken a tour of the hotel and most rooms feature 2 double beds, so would be ideal for splitting the cost.

At Nats we had wall-to-wall beds in a tiny room. Two full size, a cot, and an air mattress. There was like an 8 inch lane in between beds to walk. The poor maid made up all four beds....

I kinda of figured that 5:30ish start at Town Hall, and about an hour at each bar following the map on the 1st page was enough. I didn't want to try to make too rigid of a structure for a night involving drinking.

If someone wants to plan it out with times for each bar or what ever... feel free. I don't really want it like I'M running this, I just put a thread together to help make it happen, and because I sorta know the area.

Sorry, I put Saturday in the first post yesterday... must have forgot to post and update... Seemed like most were 'OK' with both, and the weather currently looks much better Saturday for walking outside. It should say Sat on facebook as well.

I think having maybe one mid-evening coordination point would help people who want to meet up later. Maybe "we'll be at Bar X at 8pm" and leave the other bar times flexible.

Maybe also identify a few groups of people arriving together and get numbers to text to confirm location.

Like Matt Marks, Josh King and I will probably be there the whole time and we all have text. Maybe designate one person to keep their eyes on their phone in case people want to confirm we haven't left Bar Z yet.

Pat that intersection has 4 bars on the 4 corners... so just spin in a circle until you see "Town Hall Brewery". We'll also keep an eye out for someone on the side walk spinning in circles. :lol:

I don't often go out on Saturday nights, but I would guess at 5:30-6pm it should be pretty easy for everyone to find "the group". That was another reason I sort of thought Saturday would be better, since bars can get packed on fridays with everyone just finishing up the work week.

If you are staying at the aLoft and want to drop your car off there, the most efficient way is to get off on 5th Street and then turn right on 11th. Hang a left at Washington and the hotel will be 1 block up on the right. If you turn right on 10th, there is a parking lot on your left. You will be about 4-5 blocks north on Washington from the Town Hall Brewery.

Was a really fun pub crawl! we definelty have to do at least one more of these before the season starts... diffrent areas too! nicollet could be alot of fun!

Thanks a ton matt for picking this stuff out and putting the time in to setting it up!

only thing i would suggest for next time, is make sure the first pub is one that has a really good food menu, and takes reservations. that way, we can gather the group well, and make sure a table is available.

it worked great this time, and the food was really good, it's just something to be aware of going forward.

Would the 19th or 20th of this month work for most people or is that too short of notice? The next weekend probably won't work since it's after Thanksgiving, after that it would be the weekend of the 4th or 11th in December. Don't want to push it too far back into the Holiday season or when the bitter cold settles in at night.

I work saturdays, so if we do it on a friday, i'll have to can it early and head home. if we do it a saturday, i'll be late to the party, but un-restricted in my tomfoolery. i'd also probably pop my rewards points and get a hotel for the night.

i'm good on the 20th.
