Who's planning to attend the May 16th Solo2 event in Marshalltown, IA?

I would recommend attending the Iowa Region event at Waterloo on the same day. If I go that weekend, it will be there. The gokart track is a novelty, but I'd rather dodge pylons on concrete. Iowa Region put on some pretty decent events last year too. Well, maybe not "MAC at VF", but pretty good none the less.

Is Iowa Region actually running that weekend? Their website appears inactive and there's nothing listed on the SCCA website.
How does one even find out what they're up to (if anything)?
If Iowa Region is running on the 16th, I'd much rather run on the Waterloo concrete than a kart track.:D

So they've been using the Yahoo Group instead of their website? What's the group name?
Thanks!

p.s. I'm definitely going to Waterloo instead of Marshalltown!:dancin: :dancin:

I tenatively plan on going to the waterloo thing. It's pretty cool? I think there might be an LOL SCCA event that weekend? That's a lot less of a drive for me, what are those events like? But, concrete tends to take precedence over a shorter drive, so it's probably a moot point anyhow.

Roger,
LoL does not have an event that weekend. As close as you are to Waterloo, you should go to every single event there. It's the best autocross surface within a 4 hour drive.
Iowa Region has a small core of excellent drivers that know how to set up a course and run a decent event. Definitely laid back, but a bit more organized than the DMVR folks. Given that DMVR is running an event the same day, I'd be surprised if more than 40 drivers show up in Waterloo, which is great for those of us who attend.

LOL's event is on the 23rd.
The La Crosse speedway is a great venue. Since you don't have a high HP
RWD car don't even worry about the walls.
Since it is not a parking lot it is different. The track is a ¾ mile oval with steep banks and ¼ inner track. The pavement is consistent and the course is usually quick with speeds requiring you to pull for third and hold on. A lot of people chicken out, but that is where the men are separated from the boys. Just go and enjoy.

BTW: I will be going to BIR with Corvettes of Minnesota.

Pinhead,
As close as you are to LaCrosse you should try one of LOL's events and draw your own conclusions.
I've been to nearly every event there the past three years and they usually have a pretty decent course given what they have to work with. There's definately less room for error though. It's not a place for the wild and out of control. The walls never bothered me as much as the 3 foot high cones they're fond of using. I had cone marks on the mirrors of my Miata! Too many expensive parts on the front of my M3 for me to run there anymore.

I do! I was planning on going to the corvette club thing in St. Cloud that weekend, but if you want to co-drive I'll go down to Waterloo on the 16th.

Excellent.
I pretty much plan on running an event every chance I get, so I'm sure I'll hit LoL sooner or later.

I'm game, unless Darryl wants to go. He gets first dibs, since he needs to learn my car for Nationals.
-Steve
Hey, if that's concrete, Darryl should definately do it.

Alex,
Have fun, one of the best prepared cars you'll ever drive. Brake early and put the hammer down through the corner.
My autocross career will be put on hold until the end of June.
