M7 sign up has opened, this will be the unofficial almost end of the season last shot at the mini-golf of midway autocross event. In the past, the MAC event schedule has worked out such that our last event of the season would be at midway, and as most of the points battles for MAC and Met counsel would have been decided by then, for the last 2 seasons we have made the last event a theme event.
2 seasons ago, we started this silliness with the "Tiki-cross", best remembered by our friend Paul with a grass skirt on the rollbar of the Speedwell, and a coco-nut bra strapped to either side of the roll bar foreword brace to go with the skirt. Those "nuts" and that long brace looked a bit like something else, and he about died laughing when this was pointed out to him.
Last season was the "Groovy-cross", a wild and tie-died Austin Powers kinda thing, highlighted by Andres as the perfect hippy, and a certain Bmod and Elise decked out in union jack decor.
This year, its.... THE SUPERHERO-CROSS
The rules are simple. There are none. Got a favorite super hero? Dress yourself like that person, and dress your ride like theirs. Your super hero got no cool ride? Come up with an interesting one that would be appropriate. Or in-appropriate, if you like. Got no superhero in mind? Invent one, his/her outfit, super power, and ride.
OK, one rule- no capes or similar stuff trailing off your car. This could be a safety concern for the workers, or possibly cause issues for timing. All cars must still pass tech, and the decision of myself or the chief of tech is final.
Get it? You don't have to be any to traditional here. Let your imagination run a little, and have some fun with this. Its the event following Nats, so bringing a light-hearted twist to our favorite sport, after what was for some a stressful wrap up to the big show is not such a bad idea. Its OK to laugh and have fun at an event.
I'll be running this show, and the course should be somewhat familiar to those of you who were at the last 2 theme events. Rather than setting it up with minimal cones, I may just use a TON of them, just to give things a different look and feel. Or not.
I'll be posting the sign up worker sign up sheets following the holiday weekend, so everyone has an equal chance to grab the job of their choice. If anyone has some pics from prior events, post them up here to inspire and encourage...
