With the sale of Motorbooks and the closing of the Osceola location, I was ? if the show would be going on again this season, and apparently the answer is YES!

Show is sept 12.

The vintage airstream show at the airport sounds pretty cool too.

I plan as in the past to be there early, as gates open 8am, but to secure our "usual" spot in the trees, (shade is good) there needs to be an advance team there.

Lets bring folding chairs, numbers, and any other goodies that would promote our club and sport. Anyone know where the MAC banner is? I suspect its in the truck, I think it was last found in a bin with other pro-mo materials in it, but as I was not at the show last yr, I have no idea where it may have ended up. Josh, or any other truck packers have a clue, and if it can be found, who can bring it to the show? I'd be planning to meet outside the event site between 7:30 and 7:45, heading into the show grounds shortly after 7:45. Not everyone needs to join the Dawn patrol, but the more the better, as the "official" show grounds have usually filled by 10am or so.

Anyone else in on this?

I'd love go, and might actually be able to, but I've got a ton on my plate this coming week and the EC autox is the next day. Dave, put me down for a defintely-maybe.

Oh my, I wasn't aware they had been sold and re-locating. If this is the last year then I'm glad I have the 12th off work. I will definately be going but probably in the family truxter and not the Blue Meanie so I won't be parking in the show area.

Depending on how early a start Matt & I get coming home from Nationals, we may stop by.

Keep in mind all that Hwy 95 from just north of Stillwater to Scandia Road - just a bit south of the Osceola exit will be closed for construction. Easiest route is crossing at Hudson or Stillwater and taking WI 35 all the way north. A bunch of us will be taking "off the beaten path" routes in a effort to enjoy the drive a bit more.

Cheers!

Always a good time at Wheels and Wings. Same location as in the past (north-east of airport, just north of the Polaris/Victory factory). Note regarding Highway 95 is correct--closed from Mn 96 (north of Stillwater) to Mn 97 (through Scandia) starting Sept. 8 for through traffic, except open Sept. 19-20 for the Marine on St. Croix Art Fair. Go through downtown Stillwater, east to Somerset, and then north to Osceola.

Sounds like / reads as if it might be a smaller than normal turnout this year. I was hoping to have a caravan myself, but most of the regulars are out this year. What time/where do you guys meet?

Unfortunately I may now be out.

The potential rain makes a small impact, but not too much. But, we have a leaky axle seal on the 4Runner that is not exactly getting any better. So I really need to get that taken care of so I may end up spending the morning pulling the axle and fixing that along with the rear brakes which are saturated with oil due to the leak. I have 3 projects on the house that need to get done before it gets cold, so my Sunday and the next weekends are filled as well. So I should probably do the responsible thing and fix the wifes vehicle :P

I will keep up with where everyone is meeting and will be there if my plans change.

WIMPS! SISSIES! GIRLY-MEN, ALL OF YOU!!!

I totally understand. Nancy is being pretty casual on the honey-do list for the weekend with the W/W show, and the CVSCC event, and I appreciate that. Coming from the opposite direction, an AM meeting at MacDeath's is not an option for me, but I expecting they are having the entry to the show area coming in from the side street heading out of town on M to the east, I'll be in the TT in the parking lot there at around 7:45, rolling in shortly thereafter to stake our claim for the tree area across the street from what used to be the motorbooks building. As no one has been able to locate and secure the MAC banner from the truck, we'll have to just go with numbers on the cars and lots of auto cross chatter with the passer-by's to promote the club this year.

Off to finish up my real job work for the day, and get the TT detailed a little...

I won't be able to be there, a project at the office went insane and requires the whole weekend. *sigh* I really wanted to go. :(

Anybody make the show? How did it go without Motorbooks? A couple of decades ago I used to work for them and helped organize the whole shebang. I don't make it every year anymore, but would certainly hate to see it go away. Its unusual in the variety of vehicles it attracts. I get bored at shows that are row after row of the same thing.

I was there, but sadly no other MAC'rs came and parked under the trees w/me and the TT. Show was maybe 80% of what it had been in the past for cars, don't know if reports of rain slowed things up, or if Motorbooks being sold had some folks thinking the show wasn't going on. They DID have some books for sale in the warehouse, but no giant tents like years past. I managed to spend $100 on $200 worth of books...

Cars were the usual variety of old, new, cool, weird and wonderful. A 4wd vega wagon, street rods, more rat rods than prior, drag cars, bikes, euros, domestics, ricers, brits, all sorts of cool cars to see and chat about. A solstice mallett. (nice way to drop 65K). Dune buggies. And at the airport, a couple dozen airstreams on display from a 1964 to present mfg.

Good weather and another good W/W show.

Dave, where were you parked? I drove over with the Lotus club and parked with them. I looked around for some signage for MAC but didn't see any. The only "racers" I saw (numbered cars) were parked on the corner across from the Triumph people. They seemed to have ice tires (studded), I didn't talk to them.

I went but took the family truckster so didn't park with the other MACers in the show. The Motorbooks warehouse is nearly empty. The "tent sale" was held inside this year and the selection there was pretty decent but the rest of the warehouse has been reduced to about a dozen rows of nearly empty shelves on the ground floor. Makes me wish I could have gone last year as the book sale part of it is about 80% of why I go.

I thought the car turnout was pretty decent in terms of volume if not variety. Some of the more exotic machines - the Aston Martins, Ferrari's and such - that have showed up in years past were not there this year. I suspect the economy was more a factor than anything else. But they still filled several large and widely dispersed lots full of show cars so you couldn't say there wasn't a lot to see.

They will be having the show again next year, 9/11/2010 is the date but presumably without any involvement from Motorbooks.

I was parked in the little grove of trees across the street from the motorbooks bldg. In years past we have had the MAC banner tied up in the trees and had 8-10 cars show up with their numbers, but for whatever reason, as a club, we couldn't get it all together this last show. I had Nancy's black TT, not the yellow 914.
